So i have been using OS X 10.4.6 for a while now, I haven't had much problems besides the dvd-rom not working (well it's not supported so duh! lol), so I just heard of Adobe's beta release of Photoshop CS 3 (wheee even though this is old news lol..) so I was excited when i read about the intel mac support, but i didn't notice till i was going to install it, then i read '10.4.8 and later' so yeah :S, can I update through the OS updater? or do i need to patch or something? or is it even posible to do it?

You could always get the 10.4.8 Combo updater from apple, install it and then re-install the smbios kernel extension and then install an upgraded kernel. Paulicat has some pretty good documented instructions here or you can always do a search on the forums for instructions. I have personally used Paulicat's method combined with the semthex automated kernel update script (scriptv3.command) to update a couple of my systems.

well WOOT, i got everything working to the way it was lol, only had to reinstall the audio kext, the cd seems to be working, and so does the burner, dvd still not working (didn't expect it too..) no problems with other programs, but now... Photoshop CS 3 still won't install =_=... now the setup 'starts' it runs then it asks for the admin password.. then it dissapears.. :S

So this is the error i get:
