Help with BOOT.PLIST

I can't save the Boot.Plist after editing

will booting from the dvd and editing with terminal work

You need to use Terminal and sudo nano the file. This can be done with OSX booted.

 

Example: Open terminal. Type:

sudo nano (the path to com.apple.boot.plist)

I don't know the path off the top of my head. Enter it in place of the stuff in parentheses.

Enter your password when asked, then use nano to edit boot.plist. It's a basic text editor that runs in Terminal.

Sudo-ing the command gives root access, which overrides the protected status of com.apple.boot.plist and allows you to save changes made.

Or you can:

1. Copy the boot.plist to the desktop.

2. Open and edit with Text Editor.

3. Save

4. Drag boot.plist on the desk top back to replace the original one. (Need to enter password)

5. Repair permissions.

6. Done

i unlocked the folder and the contents that the boo.plist is in. if you unlock it, it would save
