GusTowers
Strange issue. Asus P5DL2-VM with Intel Gb LAN built in. Jas 10.4.8 After booting up, the network is not functional. The link light is on but no outside connectivity. If I remove the network cable for 5 seconds or so, then plug it back in, the network is active and normal. So I have to boot, unplug the network cable, then re-plug in to get it to work. Any thoughts on this? I have searched for an answer and see nothing on it. Help appreciated. manw
i have same problem. Link light is on, but the diagnostic says the cable is unplugged. Taking the cable off and plugging it back on solves it. Seem that many Intel Pro/1000 have this problem...been searching like crazy without finding a solution Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/38890-p5dl2-vm-network-strangeness-intel-gb-lan/#findComment-294436 Share on other sites
ricren
I have the same problem after installing Jas 10.4.8. I still have other partition with 10.4.7 that works ok. Any fix? It's a shame. DiaboliK
ricren : just copy the IONetworkingFamily.kext from your working 10.4.7 and put it into your 10.4.8 partition drag and drop into your 10.4.8 extensions folder: do the chmod and chown of the kext and then do a repair permissions. delete the extensions.mkext and extensions.kextcache and reboot and it should work as it was in 10.4.7 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/38890-p5dl2-vm-network-strangeness-intel-gb-lan/#findComment-297872 Share on other sites
manw
The easiest way i found to fix this was to buy a cheap Realtek Network Card, and now it all works peachy , out of the box.
