Hey everyone! I finally have OS X 86 running as near perfect as possible on my desktop as I can now I want to attempt the impossible: Running OS X 86 on a laptop.

I've got a budget of about 300$. Give or take I can bring that amount up, but I want to stay in that ballpark. I would love to be able to install OS X 86 on a laptop and get everything working (if WLAN doesn't work I would like to be able to swap out the internal mini pci card for one that works).

Any suggestions?

Get MacBook or Macbook Pro it's working perfect with OSX86...

Haha! Good suggestion. But you see I don't have $1,000 to spend on a new mac book. And besides tweaking something and getting it just right brings a sense of reward and accomplishment!

Just avoid ANYTHING with an ATI x200 chipset. It is almost guaranteed the unless ATI themselves develops the drivers (as they finally did for Linux) you will most likely never see QE/CI support for it.

That might be a little difficult with your budget... This is your homework http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.ph...0.4.8/Portables

There is a compatibility guide for each version of OSx86 if you want to look back a bit too

One thing you need to keep in your mind :-

At this time of writing , there arent any prefect Laptop out there. First of all , you will lose out total ACPI Control in OSX 10.4.8's kernel such as the in-famous sleep bug . Apart from that , you can't really 'control' the processor - It will run at the maximum speed [Okay its fine , but then maximum speed = bad = heat ]. I highly suggest you to go with a real mac if you're on a laptop or use an older version of osx - if you want sleep and the ability to clock down your processor to save your battery life !
