Matrix
Hi There! I've installed new JaS 10.4.8 and it's working fine. My problem is that file sharing never starts. I start the service and it keeps "Starting up..." Windows sharing is working fine! I also have another machine using JaS 10.4.6 and this is not a problem... Any solutions?? Tnkx! eire3678
Having the exact same problem in 10.4.7 with a P5L-MX board and PCI Realtek 8139 ethernet card. I've got everthing working perfectly except file sharing. I can't turn it on for mine or see any other system on the network. mpir
eire3678: I was having the same problem with the same card (different MOBO, Intel 915GEV) but with 10.4.8 Jas DVD with the ppf applied. I finally got it to work by making a clean installation from 10.4.6, and then, applying the 10.4.8 SSE3/SSE DVD WITHOUT the ppf applied. That is to say, from the previous DVD I had. Don't know if it works for you.....another note: doing it this way, I also have sound out from my sound-card. The GMA900 is also working, although it does take a bit of tweaking to get the CI/QE working, but I got my hands on a 7600GT card now, and thanks to Diabolik I don't even think about the on-board card. Hope it helps...cheers Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/38798-file-sharing-between-macs/#findComment-278146 Share on other sites

dubhead
I saved this from a thread once posted here ..but cant remember the number or else the posters name to credit..anyways it helped me once to solve the prob you encounter.. I for a long time wrote about it (probably my English is very bad): cd /usr/sbin sudo rm AppleFileServer sudo ln -s /System/Library/CoreServices/AppleFileServer.app/Contents/MacOS/AppleFileServer Together with it: sudo unlink /System/Library/Filesystems/afpfs.fs The problem is solved! smb, afp and firewall work!!!
