Barracus
Hi everybody. I should say that i'm a complete noob in this subject. I have burned on a dvd a bootable image of 10.4.6 using magicISO. I have created a 20Gb partition on my hard disk, and i've set id=af But i have this "little" problem: When i try to boot my pc with the dvd in it, it says "memory allocation error (0xDEADBEEF , 0x0). Can somebody please help me getting rid of this awful situation? Thanks very much. Cheers EDIT: maybe it can help in finding the problem: i have burned the image on a DVD+RW Edited January 16, 2007 by Barracus
gotoh
is this a joke ? Deadbeef ? it's funny indeed... (it is not April 1st yet) What is the name of the DVD you downloaded and where did you get it ? If you get a chance, post a screenshot of your DEADBEEF error Anyway, it is usually safer to burn DVD-R for MacOS X as Apple supports DVD-R better than DVD+R and +RW but many said DVD+RW worked fine. Superhai
I have never had this error, but i would suggest to update bios, ensure you havent overclocked memory to much, turn xd and pae on in bios. If no dice, try to use another install dvd, and avoid 10.4.6. The newer are mostly better.

coffenation
I know this topic is old but I just had this problem for 3 days straight and think I have found the what causes it... I found if i unplug my monitor and boot the machine up then plug it in then you get passed the dreaded DEADBEEF error so I guess it is something to do with the graphics somewhere... anyways I am planning on installing a more stable version of snow osx so I do not have to do this every time I start my machine hope this helps anyone having this problem
dimasterix
I have the same problem, on asus p5q. No matter which chameleon I use, RC4 or RC3, no matter if I use netkas's boot file. BUT if unplug one of the harddrives it goes away. All drives are SATA in AHCI mode. I run 10.6.2 snow leopard, but it's not relevant to the issue. vahnx
I'm using a Dell Mini 10v and running 10.6.3, and encountering the same issue. If I attempt to boot with my external VGA monitor (running at 1280x1024) plugged in, I encounter deadbeef along with a / above it, and an _ below it. If I unplug my monitor and reboot, it boots fine. As soon as I see the apple logo boot screen, I can plug-in fine and the dual monitor appears once the OS is loaded.
Jordan94jb
I'm using Hazards disk for Snow Leopard and am getting this message. I've had the OS working before as well.
davree
I find unplugging any usb storage devices before booting solves this problem. HTH
