cvzyl
Hi I am totally new to this project (OSX on x86) although I have quite a bit of experience on Windows and Linux machines. I also have a Mac, so not completely alien to me. I have a PC and laptop, both of which are AMD processors but only support SSE and not SSE2. Can OSX be installed on these machines? I am busy downloading a 10.4.6 DVD but don't want to continue if I'm wasting my time (and bandwidth). Thanks Cobus Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/38554-amd-with-sse-only/ Share on other sites

Prasys
It has been tested SSE3 emulation on a SSE2 but its really slow.....You're better off with pearpc ! wow
I see you have never used pearpc..that is what i call slow. i use a sse2 and i dont complain about speed. Could always be better ofxourse, but the last time i looked my speed was that of a imac g5 (xbench) , so that cant be that bad. caracols
You just can't natively install OS X without SSE2 at least; you've got two ways of emulating it tho'. PearPC (PPC Mac OS) or QEMU (only 10.4.1, newer versions rely on EFI and refuse to work under qemu). PearPC is slow as hell, and QEMU is even worse. It's up to you Edited January 14, 2007 by caracols Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/38554-amd-with-sse-only/#findComment-275660 Share on other sites
