Dr. Hurt
I have just downloaded the Jas 10.4.8 DVD and every time I boot into it I get an error message after the preparing installation thing. I tried -vmware as a boot flag but still get the same results. Any help will be appreaciated. My specs are below. NB. I don't have a DVD-RW Edited January 11, 2007 by Ahmad Khaled Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/38325-problem-with-vmware-to-native/ Share on other sites
jarodsix
Exactly the same for me on VIA chipset (FS Amilo L7310). 10.4.7 dvd loaded AppleIntelXATA kext, the new 10.4.8 SSE3/SSE2 loads GenericPCATA kext. That is the only difference I noticed. I can only install thru vmware because I cannot boot the DVD natively (none of them). Please help. Anyone? Dr. Hurt
is the station you trying to emulate set to windows NT? are all the settings correct? Is your version sse3 amd/intel with ppf patch? Do you mean create a virtual machine for NT and run OS X installation in it? I am using the 10.4.8 DVD without any ppf or patches. Do I need the ppf? By the way my system is SSE2 only. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/38325-problem-with-vmware-to-native/#findComment-275893 Share on other sites

Would greatly appreciate some suggestions Btw, this happens with or without the ppf Edited January 15, 2007 by GavinD Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/38325-problem-with-vmware-to-native/#findComment-276749 Share on other sites
LittleJ09
Thought I'd mention that I'm having the same problem. I had previously installed 10.4.6 through VMware and I am using the exact same VMware configuration as before (i.e. I did not even delete it) so that can't be the problem. I also have an SSE2 processor. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/38325-problem-with-vmware-to-native/#findComment-276860 Share on other sites
Guilherme
Does anybody know a solution for this? Or why is it happening? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/38325-problem-with-vmware-to-native/#findComment-278213 Share on other sites

GavinD
Yep, I gave up too.. ended up just doing a 10.4.6 install and then following a guide to update to 10.4.8 with apple combo updater, replacing files before reboot - not having much luck with qe,ci but solving problems is what this is all about, right?
