qennster
Like most of us, I am new to Mac and OS X. What is the best book to learn about the OS? For example I like the "bible" books to have on hand for Windows and Linux. Is there a "bible" book to go over OSX and OSX server? Thank you Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/37205-what-is-the-best-book-to-read-for-os-x/ Share on other sites
bofors
I do not know about such a book that covers OS X Server too. I would recommend reading MacOSXHints.com instead: http://www.macosxhints.com/ It also has a forum with an OS X Server section: http://forums.macosxhints.com/ Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/37205-what-is-the-best-book-to-read-for-os-x/#findComment-264652 Share on other sites

qennster
I am sorry for not being very clear, but what I should of asked was " In your opinion what is the best book to learn OSX?" The book does not have to be a "bible" book, but just one that is complete. bofors
I have never really looked at these types of books, but I suspect that "The Missing Manual" is as good as any (but again don't expect it to say anything particular about OS X Server): http://www.amazon.com/Mac-OS-Tiger-Missing...5776822-9694013 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/37205-what-is-the-best-book-to-read-for-os-x/#findComment-266177 Share on other sites
asap18
i forgot what it was called but it maybe was "OS X server bible" and i was reading it at Barnes and Noble and was impressed with its ease and in depth coverage. anyway the best way i know to learn an os is to do it by yourself, without books and just pure experience. br0adband
Mac OS X Tiger Killer Tips would be a fantastic start. The aforementioned "Missing Manual" is nice also, if not a bit technical. The Killer Tips one is full color, with page after page after page of tips and tricks that get you into the heart and soul of the OS, with step by step instructions and pics to show you the path. Highly recommended as a first OSX book. bb Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/37205-what-is-the-best-book-to-read-for-os-x/#findComment-266268 Share on other sites
