i forgot what it was called but it maybe was "OS X server bible" and i was reading it at Barnes and Noble and was impressed with its ease and in depth coverage.

anyway the best way i know to learn an os is to do it by yourself, without books and just pure experience.

Mac OS X Tiger Killer Tips would be a fantastic start.

The aforementioned "Missing Manual" is nice also, if not a bit technical. The Killer Tips one is full color, with page after page after page of tips and tricks that get you into the heart and soul of the OS, with step by step instructions and pics to show you the path. Highly recommended as a first OSX book.
