39thRonin
hi, i have a GNOME Linux disto (ubuntu) and was wondering if i should switch to KDE what are the advantages and disadvantages I've used GNOME for some time and it works exceptionally well. To use KDE with Ubuntu, you'll probably want to look at Kubuntu - which is Ubuntu with a KDE interface. I'm not certain, but I think you could also simply d/l the KDE stuff out of one of the repositories. If you do that, I'd suspect that you'll have to edit the X windows startup files (it may well do this automatically) to add the option to bring up a KDE desktop. It's not necessarily a major operation, but I'd search Google for step by step directions so that you don't make any big mistakes (which could be not so hot...) Aphoticom
If I were you, I would go with Kubuntu. I think it is faster, too... Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/37051-kde-or-gnome/#findComment-263844 Share on other sites
liquidplasmaflow
I've had general system stability issues with Kubuntu (as compared to Ubuntu) on both x86 and 64-bit platforms.
