There's no "perfect" 100% working Hackintosh system, there will always be some issues (sometimes big, sometimes small). That said, you could build nice C2D system which will install smoothly ang give you less headache than some others.

I have Asus P5W DH Deluxe, E6600, XFX 7900GS, 320GB Seagate and Pioneer DVR-111D. It's great system, practically everything works (besides second LAN port and onboard wireless). If you're interested in more detailed report, take a look at "P5W DH Deluxe" thread on this forum, I posted my experience with that configuration (it's on page 4 of that threads). I also wrote which steps I took (from formatting drive to changing kexts), so that might be helpful to you.

Install went really well, it practically took me less time and hassle to install OS X than Windows XP :dev: (if you don't count hours of reading this forum for various hardware combinations and installation techniques).

If you have any questions about this build just send me a PM. I must warn you that I only set up OS X few days ago, so I can't tell you anything about long term experience yet, but judging by many threads on this forum, this is one of the best configurations you could build at the moment (I guess XFX 7900GS is not a must, you could use some other 7xxx series card, and from other manufacturer, but this one works for sure).
