Hi

in SystemProfiler my Intel GMA 950 shows two displays although I only have one. The first one is called "Monitor" and is not conneted. The second one is my BenQ device.

I also have an error in my windowserver.log everytime I boot my system saying

Dec 27 00:41:47 [81] kCGErrorFailure: CGXDisableUpdate: UI updates were forcibly disabled by application "Finder" for over 1 second. Server has re-enabled them.

What is this MappedDisplay Unit 0 with VID and PID 0xffffffff ?

Does anyone have an idea what could be wrong ?

Thanks in advance

Alright, I admit that I didn't know that the GMA950 has two ports for diplays. Now I know.

I gave the Nvidia 7300GT a chance and I can see the two ports (which are indeed physically available) as well.

But obvioulsy it has nothing to do with those two error messages. Please can someone give me a hint what is causing those errors?

Thanks again

Actually, I think it does have something to do with those errors. Looks like OS X is trying to map some settings on a non-existant device, and the driver's not liking that.

I'd ignore them, if your system works anyway.

There's probably a way in the preferences plist or in the driver to hide unconnected ports.

Gotta remember, the hardware is most common in Laptops, with an internal Display0 and External Display1.

I found out that it must have something to do with the loginwindow cause those (security) messages apear not only when booting osx but also after logout (the time when the loginwindow starts).

I already tried to replace the loginwindow in coreservices with different ones.
