trav1085
I finally own my first real Mac. It's not the new C2D but is a new out of the box Blueberry iMac G3 500MHz 512MB RAM (256MB built-in). Since I'm a new mac owner I have some questions. 1. I have a Network Everywhere NWU11B wireless USB external modem, I tried getting it to load in OS 9.2 but It can't find any drivers, is AirPort my only option? [strikethrough]2. I have Mac OS X Public Beta, but after installing it expired. Can I prevent that? I really want to try it, I'm thinking of changing the date back to 2000 or so. (I'm aware this is probably very very buggy but I still want to try it)[/strikethrough] 3. I hear Leopard 9A303 will run on this, with a little tweaking. But if I remove XTools will I beable to burn it to a single layer (4.7GB) DVD. I don't have any double layers, as the image is 4.73GB. Xcode is probably 1GB or so. Otherwise, I really like my new iMac. I can't believe, or maybe I can (since it's a mac ) that it has built in support for my Dell wireless USB mouse. EDIT: I just realized I don't have any OS 9 startup disks. And I'm stuck with an expired public beta so I can't change the time. I am wondering how to use firmware (command+option+o+f) which I used to eject the cd to change the startup disc as I have another OS on the same disk. U.C.
You could get OSX disks from demonoid or piratebay. I got them from the donkey, for PearPC. trav1085
I'm aware of the location of Leopard, and I fixed the public beta by modifing the date to 2000 in Open Firmware. (Although I wasn't asking where to get leopard, I was wondering if I could burn it to a single layer DVD). trav1085
Thanks Rammjet, your always the one who sums up all the answers into one post (I didn't word that quite right) I don't really know much about DVDs. But I am wondering if I can get Leopard (4.73GB Image) on a DVD-R 4.7GB with removing xcode. I dont' know how many layers are on that but I guess it isn't single layer. EDIT: I'm stuck in Mac OS X 10.0 Public Beta, and Startup disk crashes everytime I try to load it! I don't have the original OS 9.2.2 discs but am downloading them currently (along with 10.2). I'm just wondering if there is a way to use Terminal or Open Firmware to restart in os 9.2.2................
