em_ess_kay
Ok, I have the latest image of OSX86, but I cannot get it to boot & install properly! When I boot from the CD it gets to the darwin prompt & I run the -v flag, it then begins loading the kernal & reaches this point: starting CPU 01 IOAPIC: Version 0x20 Vectors 64:87 but hangs pretty much straight after! I have also tried booting in VMWare but that is even worse! I just keep getting a "Virtual machine kernal stack fault //hardware reset" after the -v flag Note: I have tried burning the image again @ the slowest speed but still the same results I've also tried it on 2 separate machines.. Acer Aspire 5670 Desktop p4 3.0ghz / Asus P4C-800 delux Exactly the same problem on both machines! Lost! Any help on this greatly appreciated Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/36646-1048-jas-sse3-install-problems/ Share on other sites

eGWan
how about previos version 1046 or 1047, are you having trouble to boot with those version too? if no, you can use my update package to upgrade to 1048 you only need original apple 1048 combo update and my update package in my sig if you not sure have nx/hpet option in BIOS just use semthex kernel ..and you're done for x1400 try to set your desire resolution in file com.apple.Boot.plist if it works you can add your x1400 device id into Atiradeonx1000.kext/contents/info.plist Your x1400 can get QE & CI but with mouse tearing Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/36646-1048-jas-sse3-install-problems/#findComment-260958 Share on other sites

I chose to proceed with the installation anyway & it continued but eventually gave up the ghost! & gave a me a "please retry installation" message. So I re-booted & used the mifki kernel again but this time & every attempt since has hanged @ the original hang point Now i'm starting to get very suspicious of my DVD-R's... (I have reburnt again but had no success) There's nothing more I can do on that score until after crimbo when the shops open again & I can purchase a different brand of media. In the meantime the only other available option is getting the image to work under VMware.. I read some posts about changing the guest OS to windows NT but that didn't work either. Don't go straight from the iso, there will be read errors. But if you use something like Daemon Tools to mount the iso as a virtual drive and point VMWare to the virtual drive, it should work. As far as the DVD goes, DVD-R should work fine. Burn it at the slowest speed possible. If you have a different brand of media available, use that. Make sure your DVD drive has the latest firmware. hellhand
I've got the same problem here on the same laptop there is nothing i can do to get it boot 10.4.8 whathever the kernel is mifki or semtex. On a 10.4.6 install dvd i have IOAPIC: Version 0x20 Vectors 0:23 and it's working well. Really strange :/ Edited December 26, 2006 by hellhand Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/36646-1048-jas-sse3-install-problems/#findComment-262314 Share on other sites
em_ess_kay
Right, I have used the JaS 10.4.7 with the same DVD-R media.. that booted & installed without any problems. I'm now OSX-86'd up Got a few issues however.. my ethernet is not working yet & wireless is not either (I have seen Rammjets post that states my wireless adapter is not yet supported ) Also my ATI x1400.. I cannot increase the resolution, QE & CI not supported either. Gonna have a good old scan through the forums for fixes on those bits. I'm guessing there are some issues with the 10.4.8 iso release as i've read lots of posts on here with others experiancing the same or very simular problems. I wonder if the 10.4.8 combo patch update is the way to go from here?? Thanks to everyone taht has helped sofar, props to JaS & the rest of the team.. I didn't expect it to be as simple & str8 forward as popping the disc in everything be sorted.. @least things are moving in the right direction now Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/36646-1048-jas-sse3-install-problems/#findComment-262387 Share on other sites
