My friend is trying to install JaS 10.4.7 on my Sony Vaio model number vgn-fe670g which is a intel core duo. We have followed all online insrtuctiongs including video tutorial by Vertigo.

On the .4.7 everything works fine on the install screen and everything has been partitioned correctly and we made sure to select the right options under customize- Everything installs flawlessly except..

once it does the reboot it will try to load and all we will see is progress bar with a glitched screen moving. if we leave it, it reaches a screen with a pink/purple X on the right side and does not go any further.

(we have also tried cpus=1 to ensure greater reliability because we were unable to find anything in the BIOS)

Recently we have tried installing the 10.4.8 SSE3 intel only by JaS which gives a feel of much slower performance- and does not load the install screen.

Instead it stays at a blue screen and we have also tried 1 cpu on this.

If anyone has any ideas or suguesstions that could benefit our 2 day struggle to get this operational we would be very much appreciate it.

THANKS

Sorry for the double post. JaS 10.4.7 works flawlessly in safemode. When we boot regularly the monitor is all glitched-

Also we tried loading the core duo in safemode which works even better then single and is even faster.

The only problem we have is to getting it to run without safe mode, properly.

If anyone can help- I hope this update clarified the problem. Thanks

You're stuck with cpus=1 and you need to choose the GMA packages to fix your video http://www.mediafire.com/?fynzzyf0zdv

If it's too hard to type cpus=1 then just add it to kernel flags in /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist

For future refrence if anyone has this problem, remember to check for your GMA950.

Bruce Wang your solution worked perfectly and can not thank you enough. We will continue to update on any other problems but until then thank you for the info.

Not to sound like a newbie, but I have searched the genius bar and do not know where to obtain my drivers(I have all my windows drivers is there any way I can use it for the mac? And how would I go about installing it). If anyone knows a source that would be much appreciated. Thanks again everyone for the help- These forums are awesome.

Here is our status:

We installed JaS 10.4.8 SSE3 intel combo update and went into the single user mode and did the corrections that he had stated.

Everything went fine except our graphics are no longer working again(we installed the 10.4.8 driver for the gma950 like we had done for the .4.7 except the issue had not been resolved).

If anyone might know anything to fix this update, thanks for the help.

EDIT: Just installed the gma 900 support and it works with that. 10.4.8 is up and now all that is left is for us to obtain the drivers.
