Frank Nitty
"It's been a long time (long time) / We shouldn't have left you (left you) / Without a dope beat to step to..." I'm back 💯🔥🙏🏾 What up everybody, this is Frank Moolah aka "@Frank_Nitty." I know it's been a while since I've been active on this site, but there's a little known distraction called "life" that took its toll and it has kept me more so limited to how much spare time I have available. Although the hype around Hackintoshes has died down a bit since my absence, I've been reinvigorated w/ the release of new tech and I've contemplated on the idea of producing content for a while (and, "NO," I'm not referring to OnlyFools, lol), but after some internal struggles, I finally took a leap of faith and started my own YouTube channel, "Level Up Double Down." On my channel, I delve into all type of topics as it relates to my interests which include hobbies such as PC/SBC building, mods, art, gaming, video game consoles, pop culture and current events, etc.; basically, most aspects of and different types of technology in a nutshell. So earlier today, I uploaded a video on my YouTube channel that focuses on Apple's Mac Pro series, their long-running product lineup which is a/b to get discontinued in favor of their Mac Studio. I felt compelled to bring awareness to the topic since it essentially ties into the extinction of Intel-based Macs which Apple has been vocal a/b since the inception of Apple Silicon which forebodes/foreshadows the inevitable end of the Hackintosh scene as we know it today which will eventually follow. So as a send off, I actually want to turn a PC that I recently built on my channel into a Hackintosh which contains the following specs: * AMD Ryzen R9 9900X * be quiet! DARK ROCK PRO 5 * ASUS Prime X870-P WiFi * AsRock Steel Legend 9070 XT * Corsair Vengeance 48GB DDR5 * 1TB Samsung 990 EVO NVMe SSD * 2TB Crucial P5 Plus NVMe SSD * 26TB Seagate BarraCuda Pro * LG WH16NS46 Blu-Ray Burner * EVGA SuperNOVA 1000 1000W PSU * Fractal Design Define R5 Case * 3x be quiet! Pure Wings 3 140mm PWM Fans I do understand that OpenCore is considered to be the go-to option for setting up a more modern Hackintosh by today's standards while Clover is almost out the window similar to how the Chameleon bootloader has somewhat went the way of the dinosaur. During COVID, I tried to get a grasp understanding of the inner workings of OpenCore, but my mind was on other pressing matters at the time. However, if anyone out there reading this thread has been able to successfully get macOS 15 (Sequoia) or 26 (Tahoe) to boot and run on their machine w/ specs similar to those that I have listed already, I would really appreciate a little bit of your time and guidance since I'm quite aware there's a steep learning curve when attempting to fully understand the dynamic nature of OpenCore in order to help streamline the process since I want to document the process for a future video on my channel, and I will def give you a shout out while giving credit where it's due to whoever that might be. It's such a bittersweet ending to an era that really made me appreciate Mac OSX so much more and it piqued my interest during the early Hackintosh days when the average Joe could just install Mac OSX v10.6 Snow Leopard by running the Empire EFI v1.08 boot disc while using a combination of compatible off-the-shelf Windows PC components w/o needing a "real" Mac which blew my mind at the time in 2010. I've had intermittent exposure to Apple computers in my past and my story starts in 1994 after my dad brought home a Macintosh Performa 630 one day to use as the family computer then eventually as I became older, Apple computers were being touted as the preferred tool of choice in my graphic art classes during both high school and college so I was already somewhat familiar w/ what the OS was capable of. And no, it wasn't me just jumping on the next bandwagon or overhyping the latest trend or hot new shiny object regarding my enthusiasm for Mac OSX. Those of you who've been on this forum long enough might've caught wind to a number of guides I've produced over the years, offering step-by-step instructions to beginners/novices w/ specs similar to those laid out in my guides, in an effort to increase their chance of success running Mac OSX/macOS on unsupported hardware. However, aside from setting up multiple systems in the past capable of multi-booting into both Windows and macOS operating systems, there's one particular DIY project that I've taken pride in that I started working on all the way back in 2014: a modified iteration of Apple's legendary "Power Mac G5" case which has been converted to allow for the installation of Windows PC components. So, if you're a modder or tech hobbyist who's interested in DIY projects similar to the one I just mentioned and if you'd like to see more, then I would suggest subscribing to the channel and clicking the bell icon to turn on all of your notifications so you don't miss a thing. And please forgive me for my long-winded spiel 😁. So, until next time, this is Frank Moolah signing out... Holla at me.
