chief-j
Hi guys, i have searched the forums and have seen some info on this, but my problem is a little different that others'. My pc's PS/2 ports don't work with devices, so I am left with USB or nothing. I have a dell keyboard and a logitech marble mouse, on a pc with an ECS P4M800PRO-M motherboard, Pentium D 930 3.00 Ghz processor, Nvidia GeForce FX5500 256MB video card, and 2GB of RAM. What happens is that I can use both USB devices up to and including the Darwin BOOT: prompt, but not afterward. After a long period of boot up and inactivity, i get to the language selection screen, but can't do anything there. I know some people have suggested that to make it work, one must disable USB legacy support, but if i do that, I have no way to input anything at the Darwin BOOT: prompt. Also, despite what the BOOTHELP.TXT file indicates, it does not move forward after any amount of inactivity. I have jotted down some of what reads out when I use the -v switch: First, I get: USB caused wake event (EHCI) then: USBF: 49.951 AppleUSBUHCI [0x3a93000]: Found a transaction which hasn't moved in 5 seconds on bus 48; timing out! (the number at the beginning changes, and if I plug the USB into another port, the bus number will change, but the rest of the message is the same) also: USBF: 99.494 [0x3b95b00]: the IOUSBFamily is having trouble enumerating a USB device that has been plugged in. It will keep retrying. (port 2 of hub @ location: 0x30000000) (I get the same message on both ports) and finally: USBF: 387.486 [0x3b95b00] the IOUSBFamily was not able to enumerate a device. I use the on-board USB, and have tried plugged into all combinations of ports, including some on the front and back, or only plugging in either the keyboard or mouse or both at once. Does anyone know what i can do to make this work? intrax
I'm sorry to say, but I seriously think you are screwed ! Looks like the OSX installer is not recognizing your usb devices so as you only have usb input devices are unable to input anything.... maybe the 10.4.8 install will recognize your usb better.... sorry not good news... Yeah, I kind of figured that was the deal. Thanks for the input though dude... I was wondering though: I've seen people talking about applying Apple's USB driver updates, but it seems like that really applies to users who have already made it through an installation. But would it be possible to apply the update to the install DVD before the installation happens? It's a long shot, but I thought I'd ask. And hopefully 10.4.8 will solve my problems - Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/36235-usbf-errors-on-1046-and-1047-installation/#findComment-257886 Share on other sites
