Hi everyone, I'm trying to Hackintosh on my PC, below are the specs:

CPU: Intel Core i7-4790
GPU: AMD Radeon RX580 (8GB Variant)
Motherboard: Gigabyte H81M-S2V
Memory: 16GB DDR3
Storage: 160GB Samsung HDD
Ethernet: RTL8111 (Realtek GbE LAN chip (10/100/1000 Mbit)
Audio: ALC887 (Realtek® ALC887 codec)
I/0 Ports: 2 x USB 3.0/2.0 ports on the back panel
macOS Version: Tahoe 26.1

I followed Dortania's open core guide but during the first boot it gets stuck at the error "In Memory Panic stackshot succeeded" (Picture is attached for reference), any help will be appreciated, Thank you.

@cipiter Have you tested any versions of macOS prior to Tahoe?  If so, what's the last macOS version that worked?  I haven't looked at your EFI yet, but you may find that it will be easier to debug your EFI with a macOS version prior to Tahoe.

No i didn't tested any other versions... I only created my EFI for Tahoe, I'm quite new to this and wanted to just get the latest version i did understand quite alot of things after getting into this but i still can't seem to get past alot of the issues.

@cipiter I started checking your EFI, but stopped when I saw that you're using an old version of Open Core.  Update Open Core and your kexts.  Be sure to include the necessary updates to your config.plist and then check the config.plist with OC/Utilities/ocvalidate.  I'd prefer that you do this yourself so that you learn.  If you wait long enough, others may do it for you.

Also, I would strongly recommend that you start learning with an older version of macOS (older than Tahoe).  If you copied your EFI from someone else, look at their notes to see which version of macOS is supported by their EFI.

Oh i though i was using the latest version of OpenCore and no i didn't get the folder from anywhere else I downloaded it from OpenCorePKG's github as said in the dortania guide here "https://dortania.github.io/OpenCore-Install-Guide", but I'll try to create it again with the latest version.

What other version do you suggest i should use as a first timer? instead of Tahoe do you have any specific one that might be easier and simple to understand and Install.

Thanks.

@cipiter Working with Sequoia (for now) should be fine.  Since Open Core 1.0.6 is available, you may as well upgrade your EFI to use OC 1.0.6.  Your EFI update should include the following:

  • EFI/BOOT/BOOTx64.efi
  • EFI/OC/OpenCore.efi
  • EFI/OC/Drivers
    • OpenRuntime.efi
    • ResetNvramEntry.efi
  • EFI/OC/Tools
    • OpenShell.efi
  • EFI/OC/Kexts
    • Your kexts appear to be up-to-date.  However, you are including VoodooHDA.kext in EFI/OC/Kexts which is incorrect, since VoodooHDA.kext can't be injected by Open Core.  You can use AppleALC.kext for Sequoia and Earlier versions of macOS.  Use VoodooHDA.kext (installed in /Library/Extensions) for Tahoe.

After you update the files, you'll need to update your config.plist.  Run Open Core's ocvalidate (located in OpenCore/Utilities/ocvalidate) to check your config.plist for errors.  You'll find that your config.plist is missing items that were introduced in later versions of Open Core.  Copy the missing items from OpenCore/Docs/sample.plist.

While I don't use OCAT, many use this utility to simplify their Open Core upgrades.  If you get stuck, google is your friend.

BTW this is the error

@cipiter That was a quick upgrade to OC 1.0.6 - well done!  I don't see any obvious issues with your EFI, but I don't have experience with your motherboard.  What do you mean by "it just gives no internet?"

EDIT: I'm not sure why I didn't see your screenshot before, but now I see it.  Do you have an Ethernet connection?

EDIT2: @cipiter - You may want to read about your Realtek kext here.  I haven't used the Realtek kext for a long time, so I don't remember specifics.  I do see that the ReadMe mentions specific settings to watch for in BIOS.

Thanks, Yes i do have Ethernet connection and I'm currently using that on my windows and its working perfectly but in macOS installer i have no internet and the settings you mentioned are already set to those that are mentioned in the ReadMe file.

@cipiter I think that your google searches are going to be just a productive as mine.  Assuming that you have created a full macOS Sequoia installer on your USB thumb drive, some of the recommendations I find are:

  • Disable PXE LAN boot in BIOS
  • Try older versions of Mieze's RTL81111 kext

If you're still stuck, read this thread and post questions there.

I'm sorry, but "An internet connection is required to install macOS" is an error that usually occurs when installing in recovery mode. Are you using recovery mode?

@strangeron cipiter is installing macOS from a USB installer.  Isn't that always Recovery mode?  I always perform clean installs of macOS from a macOS USB installer and never have this problem, but I haven't used RTL8111 kext for a while.  It is interesting to me that I just performed a clean install of macOS Tahoe from USB without any internet connection.  When prompted, I indicated that my Mac does not have internet and the install proceeded without issues.  I know cipiter is installing Sequoia (at my recommendation), but I wouldn't think internet would be a problem.

Ok.  @cipiter I might be assuming too much.  I perform clean installations of macOS using installers created according to this which needs another Mac or Hack.  If you don't have access to an existing macOS for creating your full USB installer, please ask for more support.

@deeveedee Ok I'll try reading that.

@strangeron Yes I'm using the recovery mode since i don't have a MAC or Hac right now.

It depends if cipiter haven't downloaded the full installer it could be a problem

@Anto65 Yes i was depending on the recovery mode since it also installed Tahoe during install but after that it didn't booted and gave me the error mentioned in the threads title.

@deeveedee Yes i don't have a MAC or a working HAC right now hence the recovery way of installing and the concerns regarding internet issues...

@strangeron Yes exactly that way then it just tells me no internet...

p.s. sorry for replying late I'm living in a different timezone, also since I'm new the moderator needs to approve my comment hence some delay and post not showing up in time. Thanks.

@deeveedee Tried both of the option used older version and all but still same issue

Try using RTL8111.kext 2.4.2 instead of RTL8111.kext 2.5.0. 2.5.0 didn't work for me.

First, run Terminal and try the command below.

ifconfig en0 media 1000base T

Then try reinstalling.RealtekRTL8111.kext.zip

Correct me if I'm wrong, but 1000baseT assumes that cipiter's switch port and PC will connect at Gigabit Ethernet speed (1000 Mbps) 1000BASE-T.  If the ports do not support this, wouldn't they need to be configured for a lower speed (e.g., 100baseT or 10baseT)?

Good news everyone @deeveedee @strangeron @Anto65 I managed to create a new EFI with OC Simplify and it fixed my LAN issue and right now I'm in Sequoia 15.7.2 but now I'm faced with a new issues the OS feels very slow and by doing some digging and some reddit scrolling later I founnd out that its because my graphics is 7mb in system specification as y'all can see in the attached screenshot, I've also attached my EFI folder for you guys to take a look at, thanks.
