Hey guys, I've got a massive problem that I cant figure out...

Ive installed JAS OSX86 10.4.8, and after much trouble installing (it sometimes went to the installer, once out of every ten attempts, anyone know why? I think it was because of the crappy disk..), it finally installed. I did the stuff, did customize, made the seperate partition and used Disk Utilities to make it a Journaled Mac drive, etc. And after a friggen million hours of installation, it loaded up XP(I took out the disk at this point, its installed right?) and I installed Acronis, and used the Operating System selector and loaded up OSx86 (it said Unknown operating system, its suppose to right? I just renamed it).

After all this, I start it up, and all that happens is I get the gray Apple logo, with the spinning loading indicator on the bottom, which does absolutely nothing. If anyone could help me, that would be great, because I feel as if I am failing at life right now, and its not a good feeling. Oh and if anyone wants to know my specs, they are:

HP nc8430

Intel Dual Core 2.0 GHz

ATI X1600 256mb

A wireless card that I forget the name of, but I know isnt going to work =(

If anyone could help, that would be great, And I did check everywhere I could, and there was no help, I checked almost every post for from the last 4 pages, no luck....=(

I dont get options when booting into OSX, it goes directly into the gray apple screen, I only get to press F8 when I use the disk...

As soon as you select OSX to boot, the screen turns black and then goes to grey with a spinning gear icon. Right when the screen turns black to start the boot, press and hold F8 until a command prompt appears. If the grey screen appears, you missed it, try again. At the prompt, type your desired boot options.

k sweet, so i tried -v, and it hung on the Starting CPU 1. I then tried putting -cpus=1, and it got past the starting cpu 1, but it hung at the Kernel Verison stuff.... Anyone got a solution? My COre Duo supports SSE3 and everything, I dont seem to know what the problem is...

:censored2:

your problem is simple burn you copy to a clean new disk :(

check the disk during install see if its corruped if its not, :moil:

select the right patches ie amd or intel and cross your fingers :wallbash:

if your loading time is still crapy try a new drive

successfully installed on AMD64 ASUS-A8N WITH NVIDIA 7600'SLI :D

Two possible avenues of problem solving:

1. If a single-core CPU is available, try that.

2. If an earlier OSX version is available [10.4.5, 10.4.6, 10.4.7], try using that bootable disc to do the formatting of the HSF partition.

Then install OSX with the latest 10.4.8 install disc.

3. Use Nero to burn the 10.4.8 DVD, and let the program double-check for errors after burning.

Well this panic tells you, that the IOPCCardFamily.kext made trouble. I think in every guide around here it is mentioned to take it out.

Then there is that ACPIPlatform.kext causing troubles, what happens sometimes if you use the Apple Combo update. Try JaS combos from demonoid instead.

Last thing is the IOPCIFamily.kext, but I wonder why it crashed. At least I think it was a crash from a dependency to the other kexts that crashed.

And you shold consider using IOATAFamily.kext and AppleSMBIOS.kext from Paulicat.

P.S.: I might be totally wrong, but I would say, better use the guides than experimenting. Especially, if you are not used to that stuff.
