BarryBar
After getting the x1950 pro recognized with the help of natit so resolution change I have still a problem with QE and CI. The ATIRadeonx1000.ketx causes a kenel panic after editing. Can somebody please send me a link to the 10.5 Leopard ATI x1000 kexts? Thanx in advance for your help. BarryBar
As it turns out I have found out that you can extract the ATI kexts from the Leopard dmg that can be found via torrent sites. The drivers are in the folder System/Installation/Packages =>Essentials.pkg. The ATINDRV.kext can be used with Natit edited. There is however one big problem with the ATIRadeonx1000.kext it can be not tested because you will get a message saying sonething like this: The 16IOATI500 surface is not compatible with its 12IOUserclient superclass changed? Basically other kexts or system parts must also be installed for the ATIRadeonx1000.kext to load. I have not found out (yet) which kext these are. One thing is for sure the new IOGraphicsFamily.kext does not load in Tiger. That in the case the x1950 pro there is a kernel panic is strange since it is the successor of the x1900 GT which is now with the help of Natit fully supported. On the other hand the x1950 XT which succeeds the 1900 XT is according to a report on this forum compatible and causes no problem at all. Personally I think the binary part of the described kext needs to be updated or edited with a hex editor. I am however not so technical that I could do that. So If anyone know more about this I would like to hear more about that. Trograin
Indeed it is strange as you say BarryBar that the X1950 Pro has this type of problem considering that its the successor of a card that is fully working. I am running with the X1950 Pro and have been going through every type of kext there is out there that is even remotely for this card, and they all have basically one problem, They can give you resolution and even recognize your card if you are lucky, but Especially QE and even CI is a probably, I so far have NOT gotten the QE to work at all. I have also been trying to look at the forums for the Hex editing, but have to be honest and say that the tutorials for how to create a hex string for any type of graphical cards....well its very technical and everything else then easy to understand. Apparently me little bro is saying that when trying to work out the dev ids for the card and convert them to Hex strings you should use http://www.asciitable.com/. Unfortunately I don't have the time to study the tutorials now since me masters thesis is due January IF nothing have happened until then I will put me self into those things and find out the proper hex string for this card since I TRULY do want to have it supported. IF there is anyone out there wanting to do this before that, be my quest, I believe there will be a lott of happy people out there then as long as the hex string is posted as is somewhere ( Since I know there is a small fast tutorial how to include the HEX with NATIT and get it to work that way aswell ) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/36089-ati-kexts-leopard/#findComment-1001226 Share on other sites
