A lot as long as there is Eye Candy involved and maybe sci-fi, and technology..and mostly to dream of the stars and to get the hell away from this mud rock I we call home!
  1. I am running a P5K Pro MB with a Quad Proccessor and 6Gb ram. I used to have a ATI HD 4870 Pro and could nicely run osx86 10.6.4 on it with NO problems what so ever. I used a RT2870 driver for my RalinkUSB Wlan card. Once again No problems at all. then one day I decided that I wanted to be able to run a bit more games and did my BIGGEST misstake in life, I formated and installed Win7........ Believe me, do not like me self for that I just bought a ATI HD 5770 1Gb. now my problem is this: I can succesfully install all the way up to 10.6.5. Have not tried the graphical drivers yett so I run with default 2d graphics. BUT. my Ralink WLAN does not want to run. I can install the drivers ( official ones ) I can use the WLAN manager and ad my settings. My OSX finds the card, BUT tells me its not connected... Now I ahve tried to to this in two ways. NOT having the card in when isntalling the drivers and having the card in when isntalling the drivers. Nothing helps. So I went back to Win7 Now I came across a small post on this forum talking about network cards behaving the same way and thereason for that beeing usually that the wrong drivers are beeing loaded.. It did not say how to check what driver is beeing loaded or how to fix so that OSX loads and uses the right drivers. Could anyone help me out pointing me in right direction on how to: 1. Check what drivers are beeing loaded for example my WLAN card. 2. Change what driver is beeing loaded forexample for my WLAN card. i hope someone could help me out fast on this issue

Changing sound cards ( Starting from behind here) will most likely cause you not having any sound at all at the beginning, IF not BOTH sound cards are based on SAME sound chip, then you are lucky. Graphic card. well most likely your new graphic card craves another EFI string compared to the old one, and the EFI string you have to fix for the new card and then add it in the right place. as long as you dont do that it will not work. I would suggest you first of all change back to the old graphic card ( if you still have it) so that you can finnish your work. Then when you are done with your work you should check the forums ( since it seems you dont remember how it was done anymore) for fixing an EFI string for your card and where to add it. I have not needed to work with the EFI strings for over a year now so i am also a bit in the dark, but if I recall correctly the EFI strings goes into DSDT file. I remember using some program to make the DSDT file ( in your case you have one already most likely, which meeas you have to decode it into a text file, change the EFI string part and then decode it back to a DSDT file. Remember how the program I used worked but cant remember the name. IF I am out taking a walk now completely and saying stuff wrong then someone correct me. But main point is, "Driver" for the new graphic card does not exist on your Hackintosh which means you have to fix that part before the new card will work with your setup. So my suggestion is to fast put back the old card and fix your work and then try to fix the EFI string part for the new card. PS!, if I remember correctly you should when you start the computer with the new card before you have the "Drivers" fixed go into start menu. That is when the comp is starting and the countdown begins ( usually you have 5 sec there to add any extra parameters) start the computer in safe mode. In safe mode it should work ( without any heavy 3d graphics but just 2d stuff that is). If I remember right the parameters for safe mode is "-s", without the "". Well, I bable a lott so I hope you manage to fix your work in time and then can fix the new driver for your new cool graphic card. Good luck mate.
  3. If you have a properly working 10.6, then the upgrade to 10.6.1 is no problems what so ever. As long as youhave all yoru extra kexts in /Extra/Extensions. EFI 10.3 is allready out. Check out netkas.org. believe me, GOOOOOD stuff Chameleont RC3 with EFI 10.3 works charms. atleast on my system. Now only waiting for the 10.6.2 that should be speeding up my HD4870

  5. [TOTALLY VANILLA] Retail Snow Leopard

I did manage to install, there where no problems there at all. I then rebooted With SnowLeoInstaller and interupted the boot and selected the main HD where I had putted my snow Leo on ( First boot disk Disk 0 that is). It is when Snow Leo was then starting to startup that it hangs with all the errors.
  6. [TOTALLY VANILLA] Retail Snow Leopard

Funny did that... still no help at all. Seems I have a problem with my system not reading the usb properly, or let me put it like this. The error messages are pointing towards a problem with the AppleUSBUHCI. now I know its not that a big problem to fix since Netkas has posted something about it, but I have to extract that kexts from the DVD and fix it up. still dont think it will help me with the problem. Im getting more or less extremely annoyed at Snow Leopard. I have been reinstalling leo 9 times in total now... 4 only today, due to me wanting to add Snow Leo on my FIRST Hard drive and let it be my main OS. Seems like no guide at all ( been trying already over 7 so far) have been able to let me get into SL after a reboot from the installation side.
  7. [TOTALLY VANILLA] Retail Snow Leopard

So you meen that suddenly the 32 bit mode that should be the easier one to work actually will give me such problems compared tothe 64 bit one that shoudl be the harder one?. ooooke. well. I will prepare a second usb stick with modified kexts for another guide just incase, since I truly dont feel like reinstalling leopard to many more times
  8. [TOTALLY VANILLA] Retail Snow Leopard

Hi there people. I Downloaded the kext folder that had the kexts used for a P5K-Pro motherboard, I used it and made the boot usv device with no errors at all. I reboted and fixed up the partitions with disk utility before installing snow leopard. The installation went real fine and reoobting was no problems...I thought. It got stuck with a spinning clock only so I rebooted again ( Yess with the Snow leo installer usb thingie) chosoing this time -V to see the problem. Here is the thing, SAME problem ahs been coming back to haunt me over and over again, no matter what type of setup of kexts I am using or bootlists efi strings Im adding ( even running with only default on everythign still same problem) IOHDIXController::createDriveInKernel: returning error 0x6b hdik: attach failed: error 0000006b That line pops up 6 times in a row real fast and it all ends up with: launch_msg(): Socket is not conected Buuuaaaahhh, anyone with an idea of what could be wrong? Last kext setup I tryed with ( that was fifth time actually...) was: fakesmc.kext NullCPUPowerManagement.kext OpenHaltRestart.kext UUID.kext EVOenabler.kext LegacyAppleAHCIPort.kext Sleepenabler.kext And yess I have tryed even with ONLY fakesmc.kext and OpenHaltRestart.kext, still same error. I tried even to add the usb lines in my bootlist that was posted under this titels postings, did not help a thing Anyone with any ideas?
  9. [TOTALLY VANILLA] Retail Snow Leopard

Sorry for the late anser. Thanx for the exts, I apriciate it truly. Bios version is 1202. Will try them out now ( got jsut home from work )
  10. [TOTALLY VANILLA] Retail Snow Leopard

Hi there. I am trying to follow the guide, I have no problems creating the DSDT file but when I am coming to the step where I am supossed to use the 2_SnowLeoInstaller it freezes. Setting-up your SnowLeoInstaller as the SnowLeoInstaller... This may take a while. Please wait... installer: Package name is Chameleon installer: Upgrading at base path /Volumes/SnowLeoInstaller It stops at the last line there and even if I let it be on for over 2 hours it does not move. Pretty sure its not supposed to go on for that long Any idea? You can see my setup in my sig. The kexts I am using ( having in the kext folder are as follows: DSDT.aml ( which is not stated whre its supposed to be so I gather it should be in the Kext folder), EVOenabler.kext ( this is a 64 bit kext that patches up my HD4870 graphics card ( I know that it works from another installation on another computer with same card), fakesmc.kext, NullCPUPowerManagement.kext and OpenHaltRestart.kext. The usb I am using is a USB harddrive that did not have any trubles when I restored the retail dvd to it. It behaves like the retail dvd even when beeing clicked open Any ideas what I might do to check out what is freezing the installer? I have allready checked Activity Monitor, and the installer seems to be hogging a small amount of ram but no CPU and it is straight off frozen, no activity otherwise then taking up a smal bit of memory.

http://www.infinitemac.com/f57/snow-leopard-on-p5k-t3882/ use this method. You just have to modify the kexts that you want to load from yrou USB rive to fit your motherboard. I have not tried this yett but will do so in a day or two since i have a P5K-Pro motherboard
  12. HD4870

Fast question, when you write taht you activated ATIRadeonX2000.kext and ATI4800Controller.kext, what did you exactly meen by that?, Wil try this out as fast as I get SL installed by the way
  13. 10.6 Generic Retail Install Guide

Mitko17. Few questions if I may. What Motherboard are you running? Can you uppload your boot-132.iso or send it to me so I can check it against the one I made. I made one following the instructions by SuperHai and this guide and I used the kexts I know I need for my motherboard but at Chameleont after pushing F and running with this commandline: -rd(2,1)/mach_kernel -v -rd=disk2s1 I still get a no mach_kernel found error. Even without this commandline same problem. and I am sure o the disk numbers, Have been checking them up before i tried this out.
  14. 10.6 Generic Retail Install Guide
