Dr. Evil
jas 10.4.6 works perfect on dell gx620, however on wiki HCL, someone has reported that ethernet does NOT work in 10.4.8 jas with gx620. they have mentioned nothing about trying the AppleBCM5751.kext which had to be added to 10.4.6 install to get ethernet working. does any1 know if there is any reason why this kext would work with 10.4.6 and not with 10.4.8, or any1 can confirm they have tried and it doesn't work? Also, usb is reported to run at 1.1 speeds instead of 2.0 on 10.4.8? any1 shed any light on the reason, or possible solutions for this? I'd like to update to 10.4.8, but if it's going to be trouble i'd rather just stick with 10.4.6.... of course you are always tempted to try and have the latest, but from experience it often doesn't work as well as an older release Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/36028-updating-to-1048/ Share on other sites
zackmario
If you want to install the new PS3 beta you will need 10.4.8. I was quite happy with 10.4.7 - only problem I had was that IDVD would not play sound. SkyZ
Yes, looks like Apple is tryin' to limit 3rd party hardware support in 10.4.8..... If you don't need to use Natit or Titan, and already have a working/stable system. I don't really see a reason to update..... I'm abit regret to update 10.4.7 to 10.4.8....... yossicl
To install CS3 on 10.4.6 you can do the following: Edit systemversion.plist locate to /system/library/coreservices/systemversion.plist like this.(turn 10.4.X to 10.4.8) <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple Computer//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd"> <plist version="1.0"> <dict> <key>ProductBuildVersion</key> <string>8L2122</string> <key>ProductCopyright</key> <string>1983-2006 Apple Computer, Inc.</string> <key>ProductName</key> <string>Mac OS X</string> <key>ProductUserVisibleVersion</key> <string>10.4.8</string> <key>ProductVersion</key> <string>10.4.8</string> </dict> </plist> Then install Adobe Photoshop CS3 u will get full features for it. Get rid off the crash window... locate to /Applications/Adobe Photoshop CS3/Adobe Photoshop CS3.app/Contents/Resources/AMT/application.sif change application.sif to application.cool check it out at http://www.flickr.com/photos/31593921@N00/347264956/ Good luck!
