I'm trying to put this together for my Elitebook 840 G4. Its got an i7-7600U for the CPU. Graphicswise its got Intel HD Graphics 620. And for wifi Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 8265. I've been trying to get this working and only fail. Help is appreciated.

Hi try this OC EFI Folder, all files and kexts are latest version.

If successful you'll have to furnish the config.plist with your own MLB, SmUUID and S/N.

Good luck.EFI.zip

Thank you so very much sir. Dude you are the freaking best. I used Dortania's guide paired with the EFI you provided and I was able to install BigSur! I now have to do a little troubleshooting. I need to fix the WiFi and the trackpad.

@eSaF, it's funny that you mention @chris1111 because I've been following his work on and off for over a year already and only recently found the to courage to msg him about this stuff. He's got some magic going on. I saw he had Sonoma fully working.🤯 I don't have the touch screen version but I hope he can help.

It could have something to do with Scan Policy setting in the config.plist and I am guessing here.

You need to figure out what has changed between when it was working and now.

Do you still have a copy of the old config.plist when it was working so that you can have a look and maybe see what changed.

Post a copy of the offending EFI Folder here so that we can maybe see what the problem is and hopefully offer a solution.

Okay so decisions were made. I always knew having two OSs on a single drive could be problematic so as for dual booting that will be on hold until I find my spare NVMe or finally break and buy another.

When the Hackintosh side of this laptop was working it was flawless. It was working better than any build I had because this actually had all the apple stuff working.

So as for now I'm reinstalling Big Sur and having dinner.

@chris1111or anyone that can help, I used chris1111’s Broadcom wifi-sonoma branch for User with an BCM wifi card compatible to make an installer and used the OC creator that came along with it to make my Sonoma installer but I’m getting boot loops when booting with installer. I did replace my original WiFi card with 802.11ac BCM94360NG Wireless Adapter M.2 Desktop Kit Hackintosh macOS NGFF Wifi Card Dual. My 840 G4 also doesn’t have touchscreen. Please help!

Ok so I I updated my SMBIOS on Big Sur to 15,2 and was able to get the Sonoma installer after doing so. I remade the installer using chris111’s installer then replaced the EFI made with the installer with my updated EFI. I’m installing right now. Will report back soon. 🤞🏽

edit

installed fine. Now I have to get WiFi to work.

edit

added kext

BrcmFirmwareData

BcrmPatchRam3

RealtekCardReader

RealtekCardReaderFriend

wifi not working

edit

added kext

AirportBcrmFixup

adding that kext makes the boot time longer

Still no luck with WiFi

edit

removing 5 kext and installing OCLP

Yeah that’s been saving my butt

Keep going, you'll get there eventually.

A good tip is, when you have a good booting system, copy the bootable EFI to  the EFI Partition of a spare USB Drive so that if/when you make changes and  have a panic like a boot loop as you described, that USB Drive will rescue your system to a bootable state again.

Good luck.

So I installed Sonoma again then used Chris1111’s EFI and used my update SMBIOS and I’m getting a kernel panic

Hey your not need to modify the EFI if your use the good branch for Sonoma and BCM94360NG

git clone --branch Broadcom-Wifi-Sonoma https://github.com/chris1111/HP-EliteBook-840-G4.git

Wifi Bluetooth will work after installing OCLP

Post an issue on github for any support of this program

so I've tried copying HP-EliteBook-840-G4>Packages>OC-EFI>EFI over to my EFI and when booting it never gets passed all the coding.

I've tried making OC from HP-EliteBook-840-G4>Create_App.command and when booting it never gets passed all the coding.

I can only boot from my original EFI folder that was successful making Big Sur.

and when I install OCLP I can’t even make it to the Apple logo.

Last edit.

For whatever reason resetting the ram breaks the installer. All I had to do to my old EFI folder was

get the 2 kext for Broadcom wifi and put those in my kext folder

change some things in OpenCore config and presto.

Reached the promise land.
