Hello, everyone!
I also have an hp z800, and I successfully installed 10.13.6 with clover two years ago. Recently it was having some problems and I decided to use opencore to install Big Sur (since my graphics card is 650ti and seems to only support macOS 11).
After reading various materials, I made it smoothly to the language selection interface, where the mouse and keyboard failed .stuck.thumb.jpg.6163283c46b670f094af63cd91a9a838.jpg

I tried to customize the usb interface but failed, and various methods were ineffective. Like Keyboard and Mouse broken in Big Sur

What's the problem? Thank you very much!

You may try my efi preinstall Big Sur

preinstall _big Sur 2.zip 9.1 MB · 4 downloads

  • According to the steps you explained in another topic, I made the big sur installation USB disk, and used the pre install EFI you provided here, the mouse and keyboard can work. After the first and second phases (29 minutes left...), The screen turned black, the system had no signal output to the monitor, and after manual restart, this interface appeared.IMG_20240104_213300.thumb.jpg.9525d9b8effd801c6088af854ed42c57.jpg
  • Because my hardware is different from yours, such as the graphics card is not 580, and there is no usb3.0 expansion card installed, I modified the config.list with OCC to disable some drivers and kexts, but it seems that these actions did not work.
  • So, the key problem I want to solve now is how to drive the mouse and keyboard in the language selector interface, and figure out which drivers and kext drive them here. With that out of the way, I might be able to install the system in minimal mode first and then improve it. This is probably better than using your EFI directly.
  • Can you give me some help? For example, in order to drive a usb mouse and usb keyboard in the language selector interface, which drivers and kext in your EFI must be included?
  • Thank you very much!

thank god that you exist, with the efi you put here in the post I went very far, with a z800 x2 x5680 24gb ram 1333 and nvidia gt710 2gb(gk208 metal compatible) but trying to start an ssd with big sure installed by another the PC at a certain point restarts on its own while if I try to start a clean installation I have a kernel panic I think regarding the fire wire and the PC freezes. Do you have some advice?

I am not sure what cause kernel panic with your installation. it could be my EFI only working with GPU RX580.

is your z800 run any MacOS? and you are trying to clone to ssd drive?

if you're clone a hard to ssd (Clonezilla-Live-Version) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6hXKpnitzrw

By the way, can the z800 drive m.2 by inserting nvme module in the bios? I mean using nvme ssd as boot disk to install macOS. I don't know if nvme ssd booting can only be done with UEFI-enabled motherboards, and the 800 obviously doesn't support uefi.

I tried pci m.2 nvme, it doesn't work. Z800 doesn't support m.2.

A few days passed and I still couldn't drive the rx590. Whenever you get close to the desktop, the screen goes black, and the system seems to be responsive.

  • I noticed that the official documentation list of gpu support includes Polaris 10,20, but not Polaris 30, which happens to be the rx590 core. Is this the cause?Shall I write the rx580 bios to the graphics card?

May be you should try Os Ventura https://youtu.be/C0le0DwSTmM?si=1cjp_8DZQ0rxQgG7

Today, the last time I tried to enter big sur, it was the same black screen. When I came back from doing other things, I clicked the mouse, and then the login interface was displayed. Yes, the mouse woke up after the login interface was hibernated. What is the reason for this?IMG_20240114_154647.thumb.jpg.86bdb042819a201987f153300d8be841.jpg
