Hi,

My keyboard and mouse does not work after installation (it worked during installation). I tried installing Max OS with and without USB patch and it did not helped. When I boot in vebose mode I see some messages about some abnormal USB kernel dependencies or something like this. Any ideas?

I have Intel Core 2 Duo 6400 on the 965P chipset, MSI mainboard.

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

It's sounds like I have the same problem installing the 10.4.8 from Jas. The 10.4.6 works perfect but when I tried to install the 10.4.8, the installation went OK until the computer restart and was trying to detect my keyboard. The computer basically stuck at this point, without any options and the mouse stopped working as well.

Any clue?

I have had the same problem and found out that the problem also lies in the Soundblaster USB Package.

On a GNT945 board after may tries and reading on this forum I did a practical clean install 10.4.8 with Mifki only some printer drivers one extra language and support for Ati PCIe x1000. First I erased the disc of course. After that it was good. Also my soundblaster was still working but sometimes the sound icon in the top menubar would disappear. With the package installed in 10.4.6 that would not happen anymore.

So I thougth lets install the package of the JaS 10.4.6 DVD and after installation the USB was dead again. My conclusion is sometime has changed in the USB and is not compatible with Soundblaster USb pkg.

Hopes this helps you.

Guys:

I suffer the very same issue with 10.4.8 no USB at all, but then i re install the OS and left unchecked the USB 2.0 patch and i get my USB 2.0 working again…

I hope that will be useful for you also…

BTW, thanks JaS for allowing me run this great OS…

Yep, funny that one! I found that if I selected the USB patch during install, a message toward the end of the install informed me that my Apple USB keyboard wasn't detected. It made me grin. Mind you, that was with an Asus P5VD2-MX of which I have been unable to get to boot even on IDE. If anyone has been able to get that motherboard to work, please let me know! On the wonderful Asrock Conroe 945G I installed without the USB patch and the USB keyboard remained detected. Still, I am having occasional USB connectivity problems but I am wondering if that is down to a slight flakey card reader; sometimes it works with the Asrock, sometimes you have to unplug and replug in the USB cable multiple times before OS X mounts it. I have had the same problem using that card reader with my Mac Mini but very rarely in comparison.

I think unless your hardware is listed as having a USB problem, install without the patch. Any number of users seem to report that their systems are happier without it.
