trav1085
I just ordered my ATI Radeon x1600 Pro 512MB PCI-Express :pirate2: for my Dell Dimension 1100. I know this is a good card and it supports QE and CI but how compatable is it? Do I just plug it in, and install OSx86 with the x1600 support patch and it works? No other hacking or patching needed? Will Mac OS X support the second monitor (DVI, but I use the DVI-VGA adapter as I have a VGA monitor) and how about S-VIDEO support, can I get OS X on my TV? Oh, and am I going to get the same performance out of games with this card as I would with Windows Vista? Is there a barrier for hackintoshes on game support? :censored2: But would upgrading from 512MB to 1GB benifit me enough so it's worth the money? (512x2) or 2GB (1GBx2) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/35272-graphics-card-support/ Share on other sites
ruku
my asus eax1600xt was only supported fully under the goatsecx 10.4.6 dvd so far and the 1600 cards seem to have trouble getting dual monitors going unless youve got a dual dvi output i think. i dont know about that though. also under vista rtm my x1600 is totally unsupported even with the catalyst wddm drivers. games play alright under winXP. the installers dont work for me and never have. i havent tried flashing the firmware of my card yet but ive tried almost everything else to get it working. i think. good luck. the new 10.4.8 amd sse3 test disk works with qe/ci but no res change and lots of aritfacts.
