Silly Question Maybe...

How can I find out if my PCIE lanes which is 16 is running a full capacity?

I have a TRX40 10G (3960X CPU) with 4 (16) PCIE lanes (support x16/x8/x16/x8 mode) because of my case and PSU I have to place the GPU on the last lane away from the CPU.
Will this hurt performance.

The motherboard says that all lanes run at 16??? Not really sure?

Please advise.

Hello buddy!

No, your question is not silly. We all are here to learn with each other 😉

This is what I've found at this Motherboard's manual.

You can check if it's running at full speed in macOS at the System Report > Graphics/Displays:

Additional info: I've already tested many motherboards with Hackintosh, and even some 'hig end' mobos have an annoying 'feature'

When we use a NVMe SSD close to the PCIe x16 slot (the first below the CPU socket), it shares the speed. So the NVMe slot will be using the full speed and the PCIe x16 will turn x8 😐

Thanks for the info.

Most of the time the performance is not really affected when you have PCIE 8x instead of 16x considering you are with PCIE 4.0. You can find video that compares RX 6800 XT in PCIE 4.0 16x and PCIE 3.0 16x (PCIE 3.0 16x and PCIE 4.0 8x are equals).
