UHD620 - No acceleration?

Hi,

On a whim I tried installing Big Sur on my Kaby Lake R (UHD 620) laptop. The install succeeded, however for each VALID platform-ID I put in the config, I get a kernel panic. And obviously if I put in something invalid, there's no graphics acceleration.

I tried the same setting that work "ok" (as in, acceleration works) for my Mojave install, but that gives the KP or a hang. I have the latest Lilu & WEG, OC 0.7.3 and (so far) no external displays.

Are there any obvious "gotchas" I'm missing to make Big Sur work?

(For those following, yes this is a separate install / SSD from my somewhat problematic Mojave install for which I have a thread in the relevant forum)

Cheers,

R

Oh I should note that I probably don't need any stolenmem, I can set my DVMT to 64MB in BIOS.

Will try these though, thanks!

You need this in the config.plist so it will work regardless of your BIOS.

If you don't put in there not going to accelerate, it's called a 'patch'

@flyingfishfinger_1 - I use SMBIOS MacModel MBP15,2 for my HP Envy Kabylake R (i5-8250U/UHD620).  I was recently experiencing kernel panics which I have resolved as noted here.  I am now running without defining framebuffer-stolenmem and framebuffer-fbmem (even though I cannot configure VRAM in BIOS) and my rig is rock-solid.
