mdg
I've scoured over all the Frontrow threads on this forum, including the wonderful Native install (e.g. a legal way of installing Frontrow) thread. Every single line of instructions in that thread went flawless for me, albeit I didn't have a Mac OSX CD so I downloaded 1.3Update from the Apple website. Using Pacifist to install the package (else you get an error that says you need the Apple IR remote to install), and then following all the sequential steps my routine went exactly how the poster stated...even when I loaded the kext, it said all is well. However, I get no Frontrow Nothing I do can launch it. Can anyone help me out beyond all the threads here? It seems as though people post that it either works or doesn't, but I wanted to ask here if anyone has had this problem and was able to solve it. My Hardware: Visiontek x1600xt 512 Mb PCIe (works fully using Neo's Natit_Uni installer) Asus P5L-VM 1394 E6400 C2D 2 Gb Ram 320 Gb Seagate 7200.10 SATA Pioneer 110D Dlink BT120 Apple bluetooth keyboard and mouse Netgear GA311 Ethernet The system is nearly flawless albeit this Frontrow issue? It's even driving my Samsung 46" 1080p display @ 1920x1080 60Hz (Progressive scan...and it looks fabulous). Thanks in advance. /mdg Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/34903-frontrow-question-having-a-tough-time-so-could-use-some-help/ Share on other sites
Ender Wiggin
Might be because you don't have an USB mouse. You have a mouse attached to a Bluetooth adapter... mdg
True, but I also have the keyspan USB RF remote. The latest driver I downloaded from Keyspan even has a profile for Front Row. I went in to system profiler and took the Dev ID, used the method outlined in the thread, modified FrontRowPass.kext with the USB Dev ID of the RF remote, ran the test (e.g. kext load), all checked out fine. I will try plugging in a USB mouse, perhaps that is it after all. However, can't I just launch Front Row by pressing Ctrl-Esc if there is no USB mouse, or will it no work with Ctrl-Esc if there is no USB mouse plugged in (even though I have the USB RF remote)? Let me know....thanks! /mdg Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/34903-frontrow-question-having-a-tough-time-so-could-use-some-help/#findComment-248000 Share on other sites
