Hi!

I have tried to install Mac OS X 10.4.6 Jas-rls for about 5 weeks now, but I can't get it done!

After the diskpart-thing in Windows, and after creating a primary partition (id=af) I made the new partition active and I rebooted with the Mac OS X install DVD inside the DVD-rom.

Then the PC boot from the DVD, but it gets stuck with the Apple logo, only the Apple logo, no circle-thing.

In verbose it gets stuck with this line:

using 1310 buffer headers and 1310 cluster IO buffer headers

Any ideas of what I an do to fix this?

I have managed to install Mac OS X with VMware in Windows, using the "to native-guide", but same problem when I try to boot from the partition with Mac OS X....

sorry for my bad english, I am Norwegian

Thanks for fast reply :D .

I don't know THAT much about it, but it is a HP Pavilion 781, 512 RAM, Intel Pentium 4 2GHz (with SSE2)

It that enough?

or do you need to know what kind of motherboard I have?

In that case, I have to wait to tomorrow to find out that...

I'm having the same problem, i've read about other people having this problem and disabling ACPI in the bios and it works, I cant disable ACPI for some reason so I have to find another way.

Quick question for any pro's out there, I am trying to install OSX_1048_AMD_SSE3, my computer only has SSE2, i get the same problem as the fellow above, except different numbers (2621) and I figure if the problem was the SSE2 SSE3 thing then it would give me some sort of response and {censored} out, instead of freezing after that response, i'm going to try another version MacOSX_10.4.6_GoatSecxDVD tomorrow, hopefully it will work.

Another quick question, i've heard people say that running OSX this way is very slow and not really worth it, is that true? or does it really depend on the computer?

I'm trying this on a laptop,

HP NW8000

Intel Pentium M 1.73GHz SSE2

512MB RAM

ATI Mobility FireGL T2 128MB Video Card

Addition:

Now, if I dont press F8 to get to the boot menu and let it boot automatically, instead of getting that grey screen, I now sometimes get the error "/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist' not found", but sometimes I dont get it and get the grey screen, this is really weird, and frustrating.

(running) Intel Pentium M 1.73GHz SSE2

What part of your brain said it was OK to do the following:

1. Install an SSE3 version on an SSE2 computer?

2. Install an AMD version on an Intel computer?

There is no new 10.4.8 kernel for SSE2 yet. The work is ongoing. And when it does get complete, use the appropriate model of iso for your computer.

I dont think its strictly SSE3 or AMD, whenever I get to the part that freezes, higher up it will say something along the lines of "Using Intel Code" or something like that, as if it has detected its an intel processor and uses the appropriate code, or maybe its just me and thats normal for all installs regardless of processor because its built for mac intels. anyways, i'm going to try with a proper version.

i have a sata disk! not ide disk!

But! i try VMWare!

If your SATA controller on your mainboard is nForce4, then OSX doesn't support that. Get a PATA drive.

Might work through VMWare, but won't boot native without hacking the VIA SATA kext. Even then you will siffer data corruption, so don't use nForce4 SATA on OSX.
