theKid
Considering a Postfix-Fetchmail setup on an Ubuntu server, and looking at other options. My basic requirements are as follows: - Stable server - Open source/Free - Easy to configure - POP - SMTP - IMAP - Web GUI What would you reccommend? asap18
i set up my mail server with this guide. DEFINITELY use freebsd, nothing not even ubuntu can beat it. It use qmail ( used by yahoo and hotmail) with some patches to make it work. Web gui for both setting up email accounts and squirrelmail. Has everything you want. I even made squirrelmail look like outlook. http://freebsd.qmailrocks.org Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/34527-running-a-linuxunix-based-mailserver/#findComment-268259 Share on other sites

FireyIce01
I agree with asap. Qmail is the way to go. No prefs on BSD, I have had Fedora and RedHat qmail servers run rock solid (my redhat 6/qmail server ran rock solid for 2 years before I had to move) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/34527-running-a-linuxunix-based-mailserver/#findComment-341083 Share on other sites
