Ok so today my wife was using windows for about 15 minutes then it locked up. I did a hard reboot and had the same results. So I pulled it apart, blew out dust, new thermal paste, reseat the ram and powered on.....no boot. It powered on then powered off after a bit. It seems like slots 1 & 3 are playing up on my motherboard but I’m unsure. I have tested all sticks in slot 4 and all work so it’s either mobo or cpu.... I think.
Any advice?

i7-6700k never over clocked.

gigabyte ga-z170x-Gaming 5

4 x 8G gskill 3200 ram

i could probably get by on 16gb of ram but it won’t be using dual channel etc.

Put one memory stick on DDR4_1 and do a memory test on, the motherboard bios should have this feature, test all 4 individually. if all tests good remove the video card and run windows with iGPU. My GA-Z170X went bad as well, I think it was the PCI slot for the video card. works fine with iGPU but not with a video card, I ended up upgrading it all.
