Catalina 10.15.4 install problems, I can only get to the area where I have to select the hard disk, then press Install, then the mask jumps back to "macOS utilities" immediately after pressing Install. I tried it also with USB 2.0 and 3.0, I also used a different SSD, unfortunately without success. I added pictures for better understanding.

The pictures I have uploaded from the net symbolically for better understanding.

Does anyone know what the problem is?

Thanks in advance.

Many greetings

How did you make your install media? What SMBios are you using?

Curious. This is something that I have personally never seen before. Makes no sense why it's happening to you.

Also, Ich bin Schnappi, das kleine krokodil.

I'm having the exact same problem.

used Windows 10 tools to make the usb flash according to the OC guide.

SMBios 18,3.  Should I make my own thread?

The specs in your signature tells me that you have a different setup. Normally I would say yes, but considering that you have the same exact problem, I don't believe it is necessary.

Have you tried Mojave?

I have not. I am attempting to go straight from Sierra to Catalina.

I have reason to believe (from googling mainly) that it may be due to USB/XHCI stuff but I'm not sure how to rectify it.  I'm not sure if I need USBInject or not, or whether to use XHCI unsupported or another kext.  That's just based on where the errors start in the Installer log.

This is the exact issue i am having on my Desktop system as well.
Maybe something new in 10.15.4?

I've had Catalina on this rig before but now it just refuses.
Has anyone figured out how to resolve this?

Ok I got it working.

Here’s what I did, your mileage may vary.

I installed Mojave to a spare SSD in my pc which was working great. I then downloaded Catalina and installed it to my nvme drive where I wanted it in the first place and bam lol working fine. Installing from USB did not want to work but using the installer from Mojave to install to a seperate drive worked just fine (I will assume updating Mojave to Catalina would work too). Got me beat on why it was like that but I got it going in the end. Both were installed and using the same EFI folder.

Except now it’s showing a UPS icon when it isn’t connected to a UPS. I’ll create my SSDT-UIAC and see if that helps.
