Issues upgrading from Sierra to 13.6 and rx-580

Hello, stuck here and I've run in circles and had no luck so it's time to call in the big guns, let me know if I've posted this in the wrong forum...

MB: GA-Z170X-UD5

CPU: i7 6700K

Just did a vanilla install on a new drive from sierra to high sierra, migrated essential files and upgraded from a 1060 to a sapphire rx 580.

All was working smoothly for two weeks then I started having freezing a couple of days ago and now the system usually freezes 10 minutes after restart. When I restart I have small horizontal lines onscreen so I'm assuming the issue is related to the RX 580. I understand there are only two part numbers that work OOB——turns out this isn't one of them, afaik.

smbios is imac 17,1. I tried for several hours today with different kexts and 14,2 etc. but ended up going back to a saved (whew) efi folder but I'm still getting the small horizontal lines and freezes. It's taken me a couple of restarts to write this message.

i have booted in single user mode and ran fsck -fy and there were no problems found.

Any ideas on what to direction to go in troubleshooting from here? I have deleted the nvidia drivers and about this mac "says" it sees a Radeon RX 580 8192 MB but I understand that should be taken with a grain of salt. The card is currently not in the top slot, closest to the cpu, I moved it down one slot and told the bios where to find it but that doesn’t seem to have and any effect.

Going to the options gear on VideoProc immediately freezes the system.

I noticed that CseActiveConfig was allowing kexts so I changed it to 0x67, probably unrelated.

The issue began when working on masks in Mocha AE.

MB bios has to be set to igpu disabled or the system freezes on the startup, getting most of the way through the startup process.

I'm obviously pretty new to the hackintosh world but I am able to do simple troubleshooting.  I can upload screenshots of my efi folder if that will help, I understand I should blur the serial numbers which I can also do.

Any help / pointers / suggestions will be very much appreciated.

Thank you in advance!

It's possible that I brought some settings over to this drive when I used the migration assistant on my clean install, even though I didn't choose "other files".

Before I do a clean install, is there anything else I can look at to try to save this install?  Trying to not buy another drive to backup to...

Thanks for your reply!

I have removed old out dated kexts and inserted up to date ones in L/A.  Had a LOT of old ones, but I'm still getting the freezes.  Maybe I have a MB bios setting wrong, but I can't boot with the internal graphics enabled as I understand I'm supposed to do.  Actually, it looks like the os doesn't freeze completely, it just takes 4 seconds to do anything once the problem happens.

Here's a little bit of the log from terminal:
