the_wizkid Posted November 26, 2006 Share Posted November 26, 2006 I have a machine running OSX 10.4.7 SSE2 JaS patched to 10.4.8 SSE2, but I cant seem to get CI/QE working. Im sure im just doing something wrong, but im not sure what. I can change resolutions and everything, but thats it. Ive managed t get just about everything else working. Im going to try it on my P4 3.0 with SSE3 and my 10.4.7 JaS patched DVD, then update it to 10.4.8 SSE3. Any ideas on where to start? Forget about 10.4.7 if your wanting QE/CI. The draw back is you have to have a SSE3 processor. Is there one out there, or do I need to build the kernal and install it my self. Can i use my 10.4.7 use SSE3, then update to the 10.4.8 SSE3, or should I download new DVD? This project has come along way, i messed around with it when it first came out, and it was far from a useable system, I got this machine pretty much useable, but i need CI to use Aperture. Is the semthex kernel in this DVD? or do I need to install it. I seen your post on the autoupdater, is that something that still works, or what? I let my wife mess around with the machine as it is (running OSX and a 2.4ghz CPU), and she was using Canon's Digital Photo Professional 2.2.1 (intel build) and she was amazed how much faster it was than it was on her P4 3.0 on WinXP. Now if I can just get WoW to run, we will be set . I understand that Apple makes its money on hardware, but I think it would be a real competitor vs. Windows. Install with the 10.4.7 JAS DVD with the SSE3 patch. 2.) Install the JAS 10.4.8 SSE3 patch, which I have 3.) here is where i get a little messed up? Do I install the actual 10.4.8 combo update from apple? (http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/macosx1048comboupdateintel.html). Then what, do I reboot? Wont that update everything to the Apple un-patched installation? I would assume that I would NOT, I would move to step 4. 4.) Where might I find semthex/mifki's patched kernel? 5.) the_wizkid Posted November 29, 2006 Author Share Posted November 29, 2006 Ok, got my 10.4.8 DVD, but having no luck. Install it. Did custom, specified JAS Combo update, semthex and the other one listed, but it never boots. one combo yielded a reboot, but the others lead to a circle with a line through it. I put in a Prescott SSE3 P4 3.0 processor in the same computer I was using before. Any ideas? Thanks! the_wizkid Posted November 29, 2006 Author Share Posted November 29, 2006 Got a little more info.. Im getting "Still waiting for boot device". OSX is installed on the primary slave drive. The primary master is my Vista boot drive. On the detailed boot screen, im seeing that the kernel is Semthex 10.4.8 Rufus build v0.0.3? Im using the JaS 10.4.8 SSE3 Intel Only DVD image. Im going to reinstall and select the VIA patch, see if that helps.
