sigxcpu
Hi, Maybe this was discussed, but I've searched the forum like hell (for "AHCI" and "ICH8") and nothing has been found. I have a DP965LT board, which works (except network and sound) but there is this strange issue: Mac OS X works with SATA controller in AHCI mode ONLY and Windows XP works with SATA controller in IDE mode ONLY (Vista works with AHCI though). I've tried everything to put Windows to work with AHCI (F6 method install, everything, but no go). So, the only solution is to have OS X to work with IDE mode. Right now it is giving "waiting for root device" error. I've changed AppleIntelPIIXATA to match the IDs of the ICH8 (2820 and/or 2825) and it detects two controllers (IRQ, I/O everything) but still hangs with "waiting for root device". Is there ANY other thing that has to be done? Thanks. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/34212-dp965lt-ahciide/ Share on other sites
nahdude
on my asus p5b MB w/965 chipset running jas 10.4.8 w/ich8.sata.fix, i noticed that the two bottom sata ports have device id 2825 while the top ones have 2820. it seems that even though 2825 is listed in the info.plist and comes up in ioreg, the bottom ports will not work. i have found that after removing 0x28258086 from the plist, i receive less diskarb errors during boot and overall things seem more stable. maybe try having only 0x28208086 in the plist and make sure to use only the top two ports. ratbert
I made a thread about a very similar board. Your best bet is to go with vista, and a usb cdrom. As it doesn't like sata cdroms. sigxcpu
It works with PATA CD-ROM. I've posted the workaround already. You have to put the vendor ID & device ID in AppleVIAATA.kext/Contents/Info.plist (this info is valid for DP965LT only with Marvell PATA controller).
