TomA2 Posted November 24, 2006 Share Posted November 24, 2006 After installing the new Jas 10.4.8 update with the 10.4.8 kernel, Ethernet has become grayed out in the network control panel. Does anyone with a D945GNT board have ethernet working? I added 0x27dc8086 (which should be my device ID as I have the 10/100 and not the gigabit ethernet board) to: /System/Library/Extensions/IONetworkingFamily.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AppleIntel8255x.kext/Contents/Info.plist I repaired permissions, and did: sudo rm /System/Library/Extensions.kextcache sudo kextcache -k /System/Library/Extensions too. I used textedit to do the editing--don't know if the specific editor should cause a problem. Everything was working until I did the kernel update. Could it be that the JAS DVD/10.4.8 kernel has fundamentally broken onboard ethernet on the Intel D945? At this point it would be really nice to know if ANYONE with an Intel D945 board has ethernet working with the new 10.4.8 DVD! Ok it works. I had to reinstall using Semthex's kernel and NOT using the USB "fixes". Once I did that, adding the vendor id's worked.
