thats £630. do you know you can currently get refurb MacBooks from apple for £635.68?

and yes, the sony has a (physically) bigger screen, but note its the EXACT SAME resolution as the MacBook. it also has a slower processor (1.6Ghz vs 1.83Ghz). granted it has a slightly larger hdd (80Gb vs 60Gb) but since the MacBook's HDD is so easy to replace, you'd be insane to let that sway you.

for the love of god man, buy the macbook!

Please take care, i read a lot of problems with people buying mac laptops and they have problems everytime so they have to go back with it. The first year no problem but after that they all have to the expensive repairs. It seems the qualty control is gone in Apple. I dont know anymore wich model notbook it was. There were also problems with the imacs, the first intel generation. Some have to send it back 3 times in a year.

Okay, well it IS really a tough one... I would not automatically go for the MacBook. It is more than just those 20 GB (which ARE worth somethin')... In my opinion Sony really does have some very beautiful screens, and most of all is the express-card slot: that is crucial for lots of periphials to come, e.g. e-sata, etc... Does Macbook support such cards?

Another point in question: I have always heard that XP on a Mac IS a bumpy ride... like there are problems with SATA drivers meaning your hard drive will have to run in PIO, slow slow too slow. Has Apple fixed this issue with the latest Boot-camp?

My experience with Hackintosh has been a beautiful-loving-prolific-rich and lively experience... but it wasn't a notebook, I'll admit.

Walk on the wild side: stick with Hackintosh!

i think you'll find the world of notebooks is a very different beast when it comes to the hackintosh.

ok, macbook doesnt have expresscard.. if thats a biggie for you, fine.

as for the quality problems, yes there were issues (like there always is with first-gen mac hardware), but these have been resolved.
