Hi, I thought my Dell T5600 (first) Hackintosh was working out OK, I'm having trouble with Google Chrome not quitting.

Chrome starts fine after a reboot or new login, but when I click "Quit Google Chrome", it will close any open browser windows, but the dot under the chrome icon in the Dock will remain, and sometimes the apple menu at the top of the screen will be completely unresponsive.

Once in this state, the system will not shut down or log out until a Force Quit of Chrome. Chrome will not re-open, icon just stays in the Dock bouncing. No "chrome" process remains in Activity Monitor.

Once logged in again after logging out or reboot, Chrome starts normally.

Brave Browser has exactly the same problem.  Not noticed any other software misbehaving, no problem with Safari.

Here's what I've tried:

- Clean reinstall of chrome after purging all Google files from the Library and Application Support Folders

- steps here  https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/chrome/bQeM_YBnkiU

- creating a new user account

- Looking at console logs (devices > iMac, Reports > System.log), but not really understanding as plenty of candidates.

I'm looking for suggestion, as this is really bugging me and may be related to a more fundamental/unresolved problem, but I don't really know where to look next.

Thanks

The first thing I would try is updating the bios to A18 and see if that allows booting from NVMe. Then retest chrome and report back.
