redeamer
Hello, I finally succeded to install Mac os X86 10.4.8 (JaS) version on my Asrock ConroexFire-eSata2 (intel 945 chipset) motherboard, but only on my ide drive (old 5400RPM thing) I wanted to install it on my Sata drive because it's larger and much faster, but my sata drives were not found? Is there something I need to install to get this to work? I already cloned the data from my IDE to my sata drive, it actually tries to boot, I see the Apple logo, but after a while I get the error sign we've soon on this site too often already, for the people who have NO idea what i'm talking about:
jojon
Hi Redeamer, you need to set up your sata drives in BIOS as IDE in order to boot mac os from sata drive. There is three options in BIOS choose SATA AS IDE. I have same motherboard and it works great with little bit of tweaking. I think first option is something like (A...) second is RAID Third is IDE It will work it happened to me as well. Good luck Jojon
redeamer
Hello Jojon, Thanks for this, I tried it myself, I have chosen the option AHCI, works with that as wel. But my osx is abit slow as it was on my IDE harddrive as well, and my network card(s) are not working, I was hoping to use the onbaord one this one was not recognized, so I put in a Realtek 8139 PCI card, hoping that that would work, but it's not recognized as well. Videocard (Asus X1600XT silent) works great I think. Is there something I need to do to get some of the onboard devices to work?
NeSuKuN
I'm almost sure that I have mine in AHCI mode and boots just perfectly but i'll check it this night at home. I did a BIOS update recently so I might forgot to change that value.
jojon
There is a driver for your network card just go to the driver section of forum under realtec network driver or you can go to neopheus page and download the installer it works perfect. When you select your sata as ide it will work as sata 300 but u will not have problems with booting up. That is well known problem with os x when using AHCI. Just go to neopheus download page and you will find driver that works with your onboard network card, I am using the same driver and it works like a dream. Good luck and install your os x on sata drive.

redeamer
I now ran Geekbench which gives me a -30,3 score, this can't be right I think? What could I do to improve performance? With my setup (see signature) which patches should I select when installing the JaS 10.4.8 DVD installer? Which kernel should I use? I'm using semthex now, is the mifki recommended for my setup? NeSuKuN
Confirmed: I have My SATAs in AHCI mode and booting perfectly both XP and OSX
jojon
Use semtethex kernel, I get kernel panic when using mifki kernel. Sound patch is very simple look at the genius bar for solution. Regarding AHCI it works for me but from time to time I get error with core 2 duo and can't boot my system. For some people works for some don't, so to be safe use sata as IDE. All the best glad I could help Jojon
