A little help with XFX 6770 on Sierra

Hi everyone,

 

 

I am struggling to make my ATI XFX 6770 to work decently on my hackintosh running Sierra, I've tried everything that I saw about it but with no results.

 

I would like to ask someone's help of what I should do to have this card working and if it's possible show me where I can get kext of it, because I've downloaded so many of it that I don't know if it's not working because i'm using the wrong kexts. I've tried inject FakeID and lot's of other things that i saw.

 

I will post my setup (it's on windows but I just want you to know my setup)

 

 

 

 

I would be so grad with someone's help.

I've tried it again and I couldn't make it work. Probably I'm doing something wrong, but I can't find what :-(

Try liukext and Whatevergreenkext these go in Clover EFI folder in Kexts folder "Other".

 

I tried it. But nothing happen :-(

Sorry for the delay to answer but I was running a few tests. Actually I was successful in "Sierra with no update" using http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/files/file/565-hd6770-qe-ci-patch/ as you mentioned. But if I update it for the last version of Sierra 10.12.6 it does't work anymore and I needed at least this last version of sierra :-( 

 

I also tried update for the High Sierra and try to use this > http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/files/file/749-hd6770-qe-ci-patch/but it didn't work.

 

I don't mind in using Sierra and not the high Sierra but for Sierra I needed it to be at least 10.12.6 update.

 

I did not finish looking for the other link you posted and I will look at it when I got home (I'm in my lunch time) but if you have some point about it I would love to hear it.

then you  take these kext from sierra 10.12.5 (  AMDRadeonX3000GLDriver.bundle, IOAccelerator2D.plugin, IOAcceleratorFamily2.kext )  replace them all in s\l\e of sierra 10.12.6 with kext wizard

 

 then launch command from terminal:

 

sudo rm -f /System/Library/Caches/com.apple.kext.caches/Startup/kernelcache && sudo touch /System/Library/Extensions && sudo kextcache -u /

 

restart

 

p.s.

 

be careful, your pc might not start anymore or work

try this solution but I do not guarantee the result .... take kext of patch 12.10.3 (AMD5000Controller.kext, AMDRadeonX3000.kext)

 

then you  take these kext from sierra 12.10.3 o 12.10.5(  AMDRadeonX3000GLDriver.bundle, IOAccelerator2D.plugin, IOAcceleratorFamily2.kext )  replace them all in s\l\e of sierra 10.12.6 with kext wizard

 

 then launch command from terminal:

 

sudo rm -f /System/Library/Caches/com.apple.kext.caches/Startup/kernelcache && sudo touch /System/Library/Extensions && sudo kextcache -u /

 

restart

 

p.s.

 

be careful, your pc might not start anymore or work

I couldn't find (  AMDRadeonX3000GLDriver.bundle, IOAccelerator2D.plugin, IOAcceleratorFamily2.kext ) in my system there's nothing like it here. neither I could get it from any of those patches.

These will be in the Main Partition or main drive in System then open Library then Extensions, now scroll to these kexts.

 

Start by going to top tool bar and select 'Finder" then go to "Preferences" check the box next to Hard Disk.    This will show your Hard drives on the desktop and make working on things easier.

 

Clock on the drive icon and open folder, go to "System" then "Library" Then "Extensions" and scroll to the desired kexts that are working now in 10.12.3 or 10.12.5 and drag copies to the desktop.   Don't worry they will stay in the "Extensions" folder.    These copies can be added to your new Sierra 10.12 6 or latest version by following the same method or path and dragging them form the desktop to the 'Extensions" folder just follow the replace prompts and after adding them make sure to run Kext Wizard to repair permissions and rebuild caches BEFORE you reboot or test.

 

 

One other major consideration is the reputation of XFX graphics cards in Hackintosh.    They are known to have incompatible vbios, but if you got it working in Sierra 10.12.3 then the kext replacement method should work.

So I finished running this tests but with no success. I did take so many prints as I could to help you guys to help me. I did reinstalled my Sierra with no update and the driver worked as you can see in my prints attached but when I update for the 10.12.6 version of Sierra it stops working :-(

 

When I was with Sierra with no updates the only code that was needed in my "config.plist" was the following:

install sierra 12.10.5 ..
you make a copy on the desktop of the extension folder (system \ library \ extension) .. then do the update to 12.10.6 and try my config ... if it does not work we expect the help of fantomas1 ... for now in sierra 12.10.6 keep all the original kexts

To be sure we're doing things properly, I suggest you (re)do a proper macOS Sierra install (10.12.6 installer) with Clover's config.plist strictly minimal essentials features for your config.

 

Once it is done, we'll continue.   ^_^

I just installed Sierra (Using 10.12.0) then updated to 10.12.6.

 

I used the kext HD6770_QE_CI_10.12.0.zip from here: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/files/download/565-hd6770-qe-ci-patch/ 

 

Then the graphs worked as you can see on the prints.

 

But then updated it and it's stoped working so I did what MARZILLO suggested but no success.

 

Do you think I should reinstall Sierra directly from a installer 10.12.6 so I will not need to update ?

I'm using clover v2.4k r4268
