dasepsilon
after having successfully installed JaS 10.4.8 over my existing 10.4.4-kerneled 10.4.8, i have sound glitches. i already replaced the AppleAC97*.kexts with the old ones, but no improvement. anyone an idea how to get sound working 100% again? hardware: celeron 336 SSE3/NX, Asrock 775-Dual 915G with onboard-sound. the glitch can be described as follows: pressing "play" in itunes gives for a second or so some kind of noise and "broken" playback, after that second playback is normal. if i'm not mistaken, i'm seeing this kind of glitch also in xbench, in the opengl test. anyone any idea? would be great! ual808
I have same thing on GX520 with Celeron-D installed Jas10.4.8(Nov-3rd) new DVD. I guess this is based on clock. Try next step. 1) Correct system clock by manual or by checking automatic correction. 2) Leave it a while...like a couple hours. 3) See your system clock is STILL correct or not. Templeton Peck
I'm using mifki's auto-fsb kernel, and I don't have any sound problems. The only trouble I've had so far (I manually updated from an unpatched 10.4.4 install) is that my GMA900 apparently isn't compatible with the new OpenGL framework, so I'm stuck using the old one (big deal, right...). I also had to reinstall QuickTime to reclaim h.264 playback.

ual808
For solution seekers who read here. for Celeron-D FSB 533Mhz you need the following option in /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist. semthex kernel: <key>Kernel Flags</key> <string>-y</string> mifki's kernel: <key>Kernel Flags</key> <string>fsb=133</string> If you are P4/Pen-D user, you may not have a problem so just ignore above. Good luck.
