SPAS
Hi, I've tried to install OS X 10.11.6 El Capitan on a machine with Intel S5520HC board. Not a success. I still don't know enough to do this task but before learning more I would like for the newly installation to boot. It is because I see some difficulties with my board EFI boot. So, I've made a Clover Installer. It generated an EFI bootable OS X which boots on a Mac computer but not on mine. The installation process was on my Windows machine. The BIOS booted Clover EFI Installer, I used the Apple Disk Utility to prepare (erase) the target HD but when installation finished the BIOS couldn't boot the installed OS X 10.11.6. Can someone tell me what exactly is the OS X 10.11.6 EFI boot partition, or, which is the same, where to find what Clover writes in the target EFI partition? For my system to boot from EFI it need to know the path to the boot file. P.S. I still cannot read the the target disk EFI partition from Windows. Thanks. Respectfully. SPAS
No errors. Just the BIOS doesn't start booting and display noting. I haven't check for some error code. Besides, I can see the installer EFI partition but nothing on the target disk. SPAS
The problem is not an EFI boot from USB - it works. The problem is an EFI boot from HDD. It is a little bit complicated. Shortly, if I had the path to a file called something like "boot_OSX.efi" my board can boot what is supposed to. I don't use EFI boot for my OS that's why I've tried to EFI boot Windows 10 Installer. It's path on the installation disk is X:\efi\boot\bootx64.efi So, I've copied the installation disk on a HDD and from EFI Shell I've invoked X:\efi\boot\bootx64.efi and the Windows 10 installer has started. If I knew the path to the real "boot_OSX.efi" I can try it. I cannot find it in Windows, I don't know Clover enough to find where on the HDD it has put it. I'am asking for help: what is the path to an EFI file with a name like "boot_OSX.efi" generated by Clover v2.4k r4097 for OS X 10.11.6 written/to be written on the the disk where the OS X 10.11.6 has been installed/to be installed? Thanks Respectfully Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/324848-boot-path-of-a-newly-installed-os-x/#findComment-2454221 Share on other sites
SavageAUS
You need to install clover to your hard drive to make it bootable. Your Intel based pc will not boot mac natively. SPAS
Yes, with HDD's bootable EFI patition and the EFI folder from the instalation USB drive OS X can be booted from my board Internal EFI Shell. The boot path for the Shell is drive:\EFI\BOOT\BOOTX64.efi (This boot path should be the EFI standard path). OS can be booted from the Clover Boot Loader on the installation USB also.
