Hello,

I'm new here. I tried to get a Custom both to replace the aging MacMini (Apple offers no System which suites me halfway right now: MacMini is too mini and an iMac is too Display-included) and to keep the MacMini as a backup with 10.6 (Rosetta anyone?).

So I decided to build a new system with the components listed above, but (in the order of importance)

1) After the update from 10.12.3 to 10.12.5 the in-build Intel HD530 won't switch from the bootscreen to the login-screen any more. The system in itself is working - I type this right now on another Mac via remote screen ("Bildschirmfreigabe") on the very system  which still displays the boot screen. The HD530 is still recognised in the system information screen but the screen output itself stays at the boot splash screen.

2) Sleep / wake doesn't work - the Customac wakes, sort of crashes and reboots afterwards. I tired to get clover to save former log files via PRAM-settings but those just get reset every time. However I'd delay that one until I got a working video output again.

3) The audio chip isn't recognised (ALP 892). While that's a nuisance I hope I can fix it via an external USB audio converter.

Anybody who can point me into the right direction (what listings to attach, possible solutions)? I'm searching for two days now but got no working solutions.

Thanks

Hi there,

Welcome to Insanleymac :)

1. You need to use Lilu.kext and IntelGraphicsFixup.kext to avoid booting to black screen.

2. Sleep currently doesn't work on Intel HD 530 GPUs.

3. About the audio I'm sure you meant ALC892 it is supported and you can use AppleALC.kext and with the correct audio injection layout 1 in the config.plist under the devices/audio you can have audio.

put the kext file in /EFI/Clover/kexts/10.12 or /EFI/Clover/kexts/Other on your boot drive where you installed clover.

If you are not using a patched DSDT for your mainboard add the following DSDT patches under ACPI section in the config.plist

for Graphics:

Comment: change GFX0 to IGPU

Find*[HEX]: 47465830

Replace* [HEX]: 49475055

for the Audio:

Comment: change HDAS to HDEF

Find*[HEX]: 48444153

Replace* [HEX]: 48444546

G'dmmit, Sir, you certainly saved my day! After installing both kexts and the DSDT patches (AppleALC892.kext was already installed) both Video and Audio work like a charm now! It looks as if I had the wrong kexts for video and the wrong DSDT patch for the audio device...

The sleep issue is a bit sad but I' say that I'll either live with that or swap a graphics card out of another build and get a new one for that (GT960 looks as if it'd work, doesn't it?).

Again: Thanks a lot!

My Pleasure :)

nVidia GPUs are working great with hacks as long as you install nVidia WebDrivers, and you might also need some few adjustments to the config.plist.

Set darkwake=8 in config.plist. Install EmuVariableUefi-64.efi with latest clover bootloader. Add the NvidiaWeb flag under the System Parameters and last but not least you have to install CodecCommander.kext inside /S/L/E for audio to work after sleep, other wise you'll lose audio after sleep.

In my experience the only version that work for me was CodecCommande.kext v. 2.4 and I had to install it inside /S/L/E not /EFI/Clover/kexts/10.12 or /EFI/Clover/kexts/Other

Thanks for the swift reply. Before I will make a final decision for/against a card I'll do some power measurements of the system- Right now the old computer is about 12h awake / 12h asleep, and the new one looks to need some 30 W, peaking at 50 W. So if a GT960 needs more than 15 W idle I'd be a marginal bargain power-wise, and an even worse one on the pocket.  But I will keep your answer tagged in case I will add a card to the build.

Thanks again

Well actually I never put any of my computers to sleep. They are always awake, and If I don't want to use them I simply shut them down. So it's up to you what to decide.

Even if I need  a pc to stay idle I just set the power management to sleep the display if I have sleep problem on that particular case, since it's the only part (Display's LCD/LED Backlight) that has a limited life span compare to other components in a PC.

:)

Edit: but reducing the power consumption is a different story.
