ps.s

will someday a version 10.4.8 for sse2 dvd be out ?????

just install and ready?

The JaS 10.4.6 DVD should work fine on your computer.

And the 10.4.8 Intel SSE2 Combo update should also work fine.

The only problem I see is video: Intel® 82852/82855 GM/GME Graphics Controller

People have had problems with the video where they only get a greyscale display without color. No fix has been identified.

thanks @ Rammjet

can i upgrade from 10.4.6 to 10.4.8?or do i need 10.4.7?

  • 1 year later...

i installed 10.4.5 on my a40 and at first boot there were issues with the sound, the wifi and the touchpad (the issue being, they didn't work)

rather than mess about with kext files in terminal, i opted to download and install 10.4.6. at first boot the touchpad works but still no sound or wifi.

i haven't had any issues with the graphics at all.

i've installed a fix for the wifi that i found in the insanely mac wiki but i haven't had much success with it.

i also followed the instructions i found for replacing the appleac97audio.kext file with no luck there either.

i'm currently downloading 10.4.8 and 10.5.2, i'll let you know how that goes

i just noticed this post is like a millions years old. maybe it might help somebody else with an a40.

There are drivers floating on the net. I told the same thing to another person with that card. Go and google "855GM osx86 drivers qe/ci" and you will find some files and a tutorial that I think is on this forum. I know because I did one laptop with those graphics and had full QE/CI support on it. Best of luck and remember that Google is your best friend. Also, look for a member on these forums called "~pcwiz". He has a osx86 search engine in his sig that could help you find what you need faster.

Good Luck,

MoC
