joostb
Hi, I have a sse3 pc, but i didn't know that when i installed mac os x86 10.4.6 jas (sse2) on my pc. And mac will not start. Can that be because i have a sse2 version? (sorry for my bad english i live in the netherlands) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/32002-can-a-sse2-version-of-mac-os-x86-jas-installed-on-a-sse3-pc/ Share on other sites
GBK.Xscape
yea it causes problems if you dont put the right patches on(either sse2 or sse3) reinstall and click customize instead of install and pick either sse2 or sse3 patch and others needed for grahpics or network support. hope this helps Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/32002-can-a-sse2-version-of-mac-os-x86-jas-installed-on-a-sse3-pc/#findComment-224058 Share on other sites

the_defiant
You should reinstall osx86, in order to add the right patches. If you have an Intel CPU, choose INTEL SSE3 option in the customize section of the installer (right after you choose the partition where you want to install mac os x). If you have an AMD cpu, you should choose the AMD kernel in the installer. You also have to install the decrypted binaries, depending on your CPU (the Intel or the AMD ones). Â I assume that you installed it without choosing any kind of patches during the install process. AFAIK, you cannot obtain a working osx86 install, unless you choose the right patches during the setup. joostb
Yes, i installed the normal installation, but now i have installed mac with the right patches but now i get an error before mac loads: Failed to load os. I got this error before and i fixed it but i don't know how i did it. I think it's something with the partions or mbr or something Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/32002-can-a-sse2-version-of-mac-os-x86-jas-installed-on-a-sse3-pc/#findComment-225497 Share on other sites
the_defiant
You have to make that partition active with some software like cfdisk in linux or any other kind of software that lets you make a partition bootable (e.g. acronis disk director). joostb
The partition is active. And one core of my dual core cpu is disabeled. and it don't want to start. Maybe it's the mbr, how can i reset the mbr? the_defiant
Are you sure you actually wrote the partition table to the disk after setting that partition as active? Making the partition active always fixed the issue for me. the_defiant
The partition type. Strange, it should have already been like that.
