mcfresh Posted November 1, 2006 Share Posted November 1, 2006 Hi! I just gave the new titan.kext from omni a try on my 10.4.6 machine. I know that this method is meant to be used with the new 10.4.8 kernel, but on my machine it was still able to get resolution changing and 2d acceleration with it. THAT's GREAT!! Still no CI,QE but hey, macvidia would'nt be able to give me more. As i was stuck with 60Hz and VESA Support only on my CRT (killing my eyes softly), im happy that i can set refresh rates now !! As i have SSE2 only, ill still have to wait some time for the new kernel, im happy to have at least basic support for my card. For those interested, here's what ive done on 10.4.6: 1. Put titan.kext into extension folder (repair permissions with chown, chmod) 2. Put the following kexts from 10.4.8intelupdate into extension folder (u can download that from apple): IONDRVSupport.kext NVDAResman.kext NVDANV10Hal.kext NVDANV20Hal.kext NVDANV30Hal.kext NVDANV40Hal.kext GeForce.kext GeForce2MXGLDriver.bundle GeForceGA.plugin GeForceFXGLDriver.bundle GeForce3GLDriver.bundle GeForceVADriver.bundle 3. Use "diskutil repairpermissions /" in terminal 4. Delete kextcache 5. Reboot and enjoy setting up resolutions and refresh rates !!!! btw, my system is a P4 2,8 Ghz Northwood HT (SSE2 only) with a NV7800GS AGP card (didn't work with any macvidia driver, so im happy now to get away from 60Hz refresh rate finally!!) Thx omni, semthex, and of course np_ and all the others Happily waiting for a true 10.4.8 release with SSE2 support. livewireuk Posted November 1, 2006 Share Posted November 1, 2006 well i just had some very weird probs, i removed all macvidia files, copied over titan.kext and the kexts from 10.4.8 in your original post. i chmod and chowd the extensions dir then i del kext cache and reboot and i got this error: CoreEndianFlipData: error -4940 returned for rsrc type blah blah same error with files removed then when i delted the kext cace again from -s it booted staright to panic lol. so im now reinstalling. be careful guys. I copied the kexts and rebooted in verbose mode, there i received a message about an obsolete function in loginwindow.app. So I thought "Well, maybe if I take the loginwindow.app from 10.4.8...", but when I did this i got an error on IONDRVSupport that I don't remember. So I decided to bring everithing back as it was. Any clue? Since I had problems with 10.4.8 IONDRVSupport I though "What if I use the old one?" and so I did, but I got a kernel panic on GeForce.kext, so I removed it. When i rebooted the system everithing loaded, but I got black screen (with signal). Any idea?
