BondDotCom
Trying my very first install using JAS Install DVD 10.4.6 on a Dell D500m with Intel 855GM video. Can't seem to even get through the installation because the screen is monochrome and the graphics are not very good. I can barely make out the menu along the top (Installer, File, Edit, Utilities, ...). I've been reading some posts about changing video memory in the BIOS from 1 MB to 8 MB but I don't have this option. Does anybody have any suggestions for me? Thanks in advance. Stadsport
When installing on my boyfriend's Inspiron 1100 it had the same problem. A BIOS upgrade was required to get the option in BIOS to go from 1mb to 8mb. BondDotCom
Did you get the BIOS update from Dell? Before posting, I updated my BIOS from A02 to A08 (the latest BIOS revision on Dell's site for the 500m) but I don't see any new BIOS options for video memory, nor do I see any difference when trying to install. Thanks for the suggestion, though. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/31696-1046-install-monochrome-graphics/#findComment-222750 Share on other sites
BondDotCom
This looks like a solution: http://www.chzsoft.com.ar/855patch.html Of course, it's for Linux. Anyone out there care to port this to Mac for the group of us with Intel 855GM video adapters?
