Spring last year I bought my girlfriend a new G5... I feel a little ripped of to be serious... but no doubt that G5 is nice!! I want that on my new PC too!!! (Dual-workflow in finalcut!!!! yes baby!) So would you help me? I have a Core2 Duo 6600(should work) , a p5b (heared there are issues with 965p chipsets), and an ati 1600pro... Are there any issues with these GPU´s ? toddicus Posted October 30, 2006 Share Posted October 30, 2006 There are some tricky things with the 965p chipset, you'll need to get a PATA to SATA coverter connector in order to get your DVD drive to work. I think the built-in or included adapter isn't supported by OS X. search for "965p" there are a few threadsa about it. Your motherboard should be fine, just search for "p5b" I think you'll get tons, I don't think there are many other tough issues with those, I think you'll have to use one of the various methoids to patch your LAN and Audio, but I believe you can get them to work. For your graphics card, either you bought it for this, or you got lucky, that's the perfect card, the one that many have gone out and bought to get better support on their OS X machines. Use the borisbadenov (not sure I spelled that right, shorten to 'boris') methoid. Search for x1600 and you'll get tons of stuff. Someone else has even put together an installer that patches it up for you, so you don't have to mess with editing things. BTW if you are using both osx and windows I recommend you download the cleartype-prog of the microsoft powertoys...makes your windows have the same smoth fonts as your osx has!!
