Hi there!

I'm was using Yosemite with Chameleon for more than a year. Wanted to make a switch to Clover, but I can't even start the installation as I get "Reboot and Select proper Boot device" error.

MOBO: Gigabyte B85 D3H rev2.0  / CPU: Intel i7 4770

VT-d: off

XCHI Mode: Auto

XHCI Hand-off - Enabled

EHCI Hand-off - Enabled

I tried like every usb creation method. So I suppose I might need to edit something in config.plist.

Done this http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/305255-making-a-10101011-usb-installer-w-clover-uefi-and-legacy-the-correct-way/

And the chris1111 package installer.

I've tried with 4 different USB pens.

I uplodaed my config.plist file which was created using chris1111's method. I only modified my SMBIOS to be iMAC 14,1.

UPDATE>

"I made it work !!

But the usb wans't the problem as I was trying to tell You.

I performed a BIOS recovery. Factory state, settings.

I made the exact same settings (XHCI,EHCI, etc..) and voila' my usb has been recognized.

My system is up and running now. "

config.plist.zip

anyone, any idea?

I've made an installer via terminal for my Macbook, and it did work. So my usb pens aren't faulty. But I can't get it work on my hackintosh.

Hello there,

Could you post a picture of the error?

Best regards.

Yes, but the usb doesn't show up as UEFI bootable device. If I override boot from the pendrive then I get the error on the pic.

Somehow, the pendrive won't be bootable, no matter which method I use.

This only happens with Clover

If I make a Chameleon Yosemite pendrive it boots immediately.

Where did you get the clover installer?

Post a picture with the selected options from the clover installer.

I've checked it already. Tried using Guid for UEFI and MBR for Legacy.

I tried all the usb ports.

As I said my pen drives are fine, and also my ports are fine as I could boot into my old Yosemite usb installer.

First mistake, don't select the "Install Clover in the ESP" option when you're installing clover on a usb drive.

You said that the boot menu is not seeing your usb device. Make sure that you have enabled the usb detection in the "BIOS".

In addition, as @C.Frio mentioned, try other usb ports.

Furthermore, format the usb drive with a different file system, leave it empty and check if it's seen by the bios.

Best of luck.

Then the boot loader is not gonna be installed on the usb's EFI partition. Why is it good for me?

I can boot from windows installer, any linux installer.

It's not working when clover is installed in the ESP, I don't know the reason.

From the usb drive?

Okay, I'll give it a try tomorrow.

Yes. From any usb, on any usb port.

The above statement, about the ESP installation is true for the legacy clover, I'm not sure about the UEFI.

Since that's working, experiment with it a little more. The usb drive should have HFS+ file system definition. If you follow step by step the mentioned guide, in the first post, it should work, maybe you missed something. Try again.  :)

Best of luck.

Well, thats why I asked. I'm trying to make an UEFI installer.

Believe me when I say everything is set up properly.

I did the same exact steps as in the guides.

These basic settings are not gonna help me out.

hi...

see this point, on formatting pen drive..on new disk utility,if you are using it

Okay, so I made it as in the video. I'm 150% sure that I made the same exact thing as in the video.

Same results.

Here are the pics. ( Mac OS bootflag is my old system but that ssd is not even connected. )

edit: It's not even showing UEFI: USBname.

hi..

suppose you have CSM set as UEFI...

and AHCI...

so (the computer..bios) it is not recognizing the UEFI USB..so IMO,

the issue is on the pen by itself, or the format issue...or the port that is used...

I would use "G parted" and clean and format it...

CSM is only available if I choose Windows 8 OS. If its set to Other OS I can't set up CSM.

The pen is fine. And also the ports are fine. I can make other UEFI bootable installers like Windows or any Linux distribution.

I've done gdisk already.  I've tried with 4 different USB pendrives.

Hmm.. That seems odd.

Did you try my suggestion? Format the usb drive with hfs+(journaled) file system definition and GPT, leave it empty, remove safely the drive from the USB port, shutdown the computer, after press the power on button connect the drive right away and look if it's detected in bios/boot menu.

We are trying to help you, however, it's quite hard as we don't own the same hardware to create precise instructions for you. Bear with us and we'll find a solution. ?

Yes, gdisk makes hfs+ and GPT.

There's one more thing I can try.

I have a friend who has the same exact Motherboard and CPU, also using hackintosh. I'll try to install El Capitan with my ssd in his machine.

Why would you use gdisk? Use the disk utility provided by Apple in MacOS.

As you wish.

Best of luck.

Boot into Linux...

Use GParted on the USB Stick to remove all partitions, and DO NOT FORMAT IT... Leave it RAW...

Or boot into Windows...

Use RUFUS and make a bootable DOS (FAT32) Disk with MBR...

Then, on your Mac create the USB stick exactly as it was described in the Guide you had posted...

(when you format the USB stick using the DiskUtility, don't forget to use GPT and HFS+ Journaled)

and use the latest Clover (build 3726 I believe) or Chris1111's Clover 2.3k Special Edition (See DL Section)...

Then see if the USB Stick is correctly recognized...

Some UEFI firmwares will not recognize a stick correctly (or drive in general) if it already has a mangled/empty EFI Partition...
